I know this is a repeat post by me, but who the hell goes out for Asian food?

Putting Thai and Indian together is ridiculous.

Even Northern Indian and Southern Indian food is completely different.

Another humorous thing I noticed was Ruffinos being listed among the three "Best Grourmet Food" restaurants in BR.

This.

Also throw Little Village in with that. Nothing says gourmet like Tilapia fish specials.

Come on man, where is the love for ditch trout smothered in a beurre blanc?

All kind of people. Other than Americanized Chinese food, most Asian food is eaten at restaurants.

they justify it as "exotic" because it's square (rectangular actually) ...

I think the point was, what the hell specifically is "Asian" food supposed to be?

The following are the winners of 225 Magazine's "Best Restaurant Advertisers of Baton Rouge"

Yep. You can definitely tell this list isn't "best" of Baton Rouge by a longshot.

While they did touch on a few good restaurants, several of them are jokes.

I would go into more detail but everyone else has pretty much said what needed to be said.

Hamburgers - Southside Bakery, Judice Inn, Fat Pats. Enough said
Sushi - Tokyo Live, Shinto, Tsubaki's, Dozo, Pimon Thai
Seafood - Feezo's, Riverside Inn, Prejean's, Blue Dog Cafe
Boiled Crawfish - Hawk's (enough said)
Italian - Alesi's, Imonelli, Italian food market, Marcello's
Pizza - Deano's, La Pizzeria, Pizza Village, Rochetto's
Boudin - Best stop, Don's Speciality Meats
Po-boys - Ole Tyme Grocery, Chris's Po-boys

Burgers - I'd put Masons up against all of those
Sushi- Haven't tried but BR has a good sushi lineup
Seafood - I've been to Prejean's and Fezzo's. I'll take LA Lagniappae, Jubans, Parrain's over that group
Italian - don't know enough about either to comment
Pizza - If Deano's is on your list then that's all I need to know
Boudin - Of course you're going to have better boudin
Po-boys - A push IMO

I'll submit that BR definitely has better mediterranean, fine dining, Latin, and middle eastern choices.

Nothing special at all about their sandwich. Nostalgic only to ULL alumni as inexpensive food near campus..

Right. Asia is a pretty big continent

To be fair the category was South Asian food

But to me Indian and Thai are so far apart they shouldn't be in the same category. That's like putting Tex Mex and Spanish food in the same category. Makes no sense.

That was my point.

No one sits around and says, "I'd want to go out for Asian food tonight."

If it is going to be a truly legit poll, you need to distinguish between N. Indian and S. Indian.

Much like people here point out about Italian.

Which actually makes the point about "Asian."

Might as well have a category for Southern European food. Italian, French and Greek are all the same right?

I'll give you that. But I would put Mason's behind Southside and Judice and over Fat Pat's. Fezzo's and Riverside are better than LA Lagniappae and Jubans. You don't like Deano's?

Same here. I loved their chicken Marsala and can't find any place that does it the same way. Not even their other locations.

Fwiw, I was practically laughed at on this board when I said I liked Portobello's.

But I loved that college drive location.

Whats considered local? You know chain restaurants are owned by locals rt? And most employees are local. Hell even the cocacola guys that come to aervice drink machines are licals. I dont get the hate?
