No shite. How is Bay Leaf not even mentioned in the running? Hell, where is Maison Lacour and Brandts Maisonette. For that matter, where is La Creole?
Throw Marcello's and Stroube's into that mix.

Bay Leaf should have been the #1 in their category if the voters knew anything about Asian food.
Asian food? Are you kidding me. A category called Asian food?
That alone makes the entire thing stupid.
Most of the winners I saw on the first page were the ones people talk highly of though.

I just realize when you have poll of any sorts.. Visible and popular restaurants are going to win.. And besides a couple of misses, they really weren't any horrible winners.. I do need to try bay leaf, it's just hard to get out there and it's not the kind of place I want to take my kids

Gone there with my friends who have kids.
Granted it's a white tablecloth kind of setting, but a shitload of people go there dressed casually. India's is similar, I ate there today in gym clothes.

Yep, and Stoubes for certain. One of the better places to eat in BR for sure.
Another humorous thing I noticed was Ruffinos being listed among the three "Best Grourmet Food" restaurants in BR.
Now granted, the term "Gourmet" in and of itself has become a bit misunderstood and prehaps misapplied, but I take the meaning to be the best fine dining, and I can honestly say that I see nothing in Ruffinos that would be constituted as either fine dining or gourmet. How they actually got on that list is beyond me. That's not even a shot at Ruffinos, which I don't find bad, just personally quite overrated, but it's really just a place that's not supported by anything that would lend me to call their food or service either gourmet or fine dining.

i miss chalet brandt ..

many of what you've mentioned on your list could easily be claimed as overrated, and many on here have.
also, I'll never understand why someone from town X has to chime in on a thread that has nothing to do with their city. It changes the course of the thread, and makes what was a good thread into something tired.

Yeah, it was a pretty good place for sure. Brandts Maisonette is the same family, albeit more traditional french country, it's still one of the best places to eat in Baton Rouge, and yet most people in this city don't even know it exists. Sad really, but small and intimate is what keeps them doing serious food. They aren't set up to cater to the masses, and yet they should be respected for what they do regardless.

i have done business in the past with the brandt family .. all really good people .. everytime we'd complete a transaction, we'd knock a few bucks off the bill and i would eat at chalet brandt on the house .. good times ..

I can attest to that as well. My family has also had business dealings with them in the past, or rather were in negotiations with them on a venture that didn't pan out, but it gave me and we a chance to see what makes up their food principles behind the scenes, and I have a tremendous amount of respect for the lot of them. They are real restauranteurs, and foodies. They get it, and live it. Very accomodating and I got the feeling that they were in it for all the right reasons.

This.
Also throw Little Village in with that. Nothing says gourmet like Tilapia fish specials.
