Love your signature line. One of my favorite movies. I think I'm going to include the Masked Breton when I make my sig pic.

Rue 127

I've had great meals the times I went there. But the last two times I was in the hallway.
I hated that. A girl I've known for like 15 years is one of the servers, so I go to sit in her section, but still it's not the price that turns me off (I think price is good) I hate being cramped in a hallway.

I've only been to Rue 127 once, but I really enjoyed it. Fried chicken skins and duck breast

Is Maurepas really that good? It's another on my "to-try" list.

Absolutely. Inventive food, with great cocktails.

I've also heard a lot of good things about Cowbell and High Hat. Anybody been?

Both really good. My only complaint about Hi Hat is the beer prices. Food is really good and I like the place. Cowbell is good as well. Two of the best super casual places.

Hi Hat burger rare is great and Cowbell has a great one as well. My two favorite burgers in town. The whole fried catfish at Hi Hat is excellent.

ETA: How does Gautreau's not make this list? Been the most consistently great restaurant in the city for over 25 years.

Excellent point.

The problem is that I honestly have trouble making a top 20 list without thinking that I may be leaving out a place that should be included.

R2R . . . you're still wrong about Galatoire's.

And glass, anything happening this coming Saturday?

Guess it would depend on ones definition of "foodie". I would consider buying avocado fries off a food truck in front a dive bar to be more foodie than having a meal at Commanders.

I hear there is a concert at the fairgrounds.

Haven't had time. I started working on it. It's forthcoming. Just not sure when. I won't forget.

He had a cool role in Outlaw Josey Wales as well. Both great movies, 2 of my favorites.

As glassman said, both top notch places. My favorite 2 burgers in the city. High Hat has a more versatile menu / specials. I'd give both a try asap if I were you.

re: Maurepas. It's pretty good. I've only been twice, both for lunch, so I haven't tried the purportedly famous cocktails - nor the dinner menu / specials. The goat tacos and the pimenton sausage sandwich are both gangster.

I'm going to MoPHO tomorrow for lunch. Not sure whether to get the beef pho or the fowl. I've heard their wings are legit.

Let us know how the "exotic meats" in bland broth are. O Brah .. the resident contrarian of the Food Board will be interested to hear how creative and outside the box you find it.
