I'm tempted to go to High Hat instead

Would remove the following (and I'm iffy on Commanders for this list as well) but there are about 20 places to take their spot.

I have, my review is on this board.

You're not the contrarian, merely the scared child who is afraid of trying something different.

To the new guy thinking of going, it's a different take on Pho. The wings and several of the other "apps" are creative and well executed. I had a lamb carpaccio that was out of sight. You certainly won't see that at Lilly's.

One thing to note, I'm not a life time lover of pho. I rarely order it when I go to Viet places, but I do love the cuisine. I've had the soup at Mopho and I like it. Perhaps my lack of fanaticism gives me a fresher perspective then others who have preconceived notions of what pho is "suppose to be".

High Hat is very good, but it's a diner. As others have said, they have a premium burger along with other good dishes. The atmosphere is a little on the boring side, nice on a Sunday morning.

Give Mopho a shot and let us know what you think. Don't like R2R (never been to Mopho) dissuade you from trying a place getting some deserved buzz.

Cool. I'll do a search for threads with fewer than 10 responses.

Yeah lamb carpaccio is what I want for $15 bucks at lunch in a strip mall in Mid City.

And wings! The ultimate vietnamese contribution to food!

Their pho is flavorful.

I forgot, when did you become the cultural ambassador of Vietnam?

Was it on the trip you never took, friend you don't have, research you never did?

How can I take the word of a person to whom pho is an "uninteresting" dish to begin with?

I've had boots on the ground for years. Charlie still hasn't gotten a clean shot to knock me off course. Call me when you're done knawing on Ba Chi's chicken wings long enough to get your arse handed to you again in pho talk.

Nah, I appreciate the variety of flavors in this world. I doubt R2R has recognized any flavors other then American Spirit in years.

I think you guys can already tell, based on my lists/preferences, that I know a thing or two about good food. I'll report back with my honest thoughts of the place.

As for High Hat, I might just get some stuff to-go on Friday before I head back to BR.

To far, Metairie man. You should call up the LBox on your next chain tour. Where did you go last Saturday for lunch? I forget.

I for one am enjoying this lovers' spat between OB and R2R. Loser has to sleep on the couch tonight.

I still haven't tried MoPho. I have had reports from two different, but somewhat trusted, sources that they thought it was decent but overpriced. Both said they would give it another shot, however. I plan on trying it very soon.

It's slightly higher then your average pho shop, but they won't put you in the poor house.

People are acting like it's going to cost you a $100 there. You have to really try to spend over $25/head.

I think any place is worth trying and can be considered good even if it doesn't become your go-to for that style of food.
