a narrative
one that was flatly rejected yesterday and they're doubling down on the rhetoric as a sign of their oppression

I think the fear has less to do with Trump and his specific views, and more to do with the GOP itself, and how it's handled LGBT issues (not well, from the perspective of the LGBT community).
That, and the SCOTUS thing.
That, and the SCOTUS thing.

I believe he said something in regards to gay marriage. I really hope the GOP doesnt go down that road - the backlash will kill any momentum.
I doubt they will. The Supreme Court has spoken. They would have to propose an amendment and it would never pass.

We don't carry if you marry a dude. That's just the far religious right. The rest of us don't really care. Soak all the corks you guys want.

trump is going to get to nominate several judges, and they will be conservative. they could overturn gay marriage.
Seems rather freaking attenuated for the sort of meltdowns I'm seeing but, whatever, I guess.

and this literally makes no sense
Obama ran in 2008 against gay marriage. HRC was against gay marriage then, too
she only switched like a year ago
where is the vitriol towards their candidates?

This. The outrage is ridiculous.

Well they are little pussy babies. Did they honestly think the GOP would never win the Presidency again?
Tell them to get a fricking grip.

yes
and on that same note, one of the things about Trump and the sexism/racist allegations is that the electorate had kind of figured out that NO MATTER WHO THE NOMINEE IS, they will get those labels. this is the Bill Maher "crying wolf" shite that unfolded in real time. it's been pushed too far

It wouldn't have anything to do with the GOP or Trump other than confirming said justices.

anti gay agenda of the Trump platform
Trump has been all over the map on gay rights, including promising to appoint SC justices to overturn gay marriage. Is it any wonder that gays distrust him?

I have seen several melts that suggest exactly this on my facebook feed. I haven't really seen others.

In addition, the country has pretty overwhelmingly either accepted Gay Marriage or said "we don't fricking care".
It wouldn't change, and even if it did, the vast, vast, vast majority of states would enact legislation to uphold gay marriage within those states.
It should have been decided on Equal Protection anyway.

the fact that Hillary was not called to task on her anti-gay sentiments shows you how much the major media shapes national opinions

Time piece on Pense
Indiana Gov. Mike Pence, Donald Trump’s running mate, attracted national attention last year when he signed a religious freedom law that members of the LGBT community said could worsen discrimination against them.
After criticism from the business community, Pence signed an amendment to the law intended to protect gays and lesbians.
But it was not his first brush with criticism from the LGBT community. A self-described “Christian, a conservative and a Republican, in that order,” the former member of Congress was a prominent conservative figure in battles over marriage equality and equal rights in the last decade.

Here are some of the statements and positions Pence had has related to LGBT issues:
He said gay couples signaled ‘societal collapse’
-
He opposed a law that would prohibit discrimination against LGBT people in the workplace
-
He opposed the repeal of Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell
-
He rejected the Obama administration directive on transgender bathrooms

Apparently the propaganda machine told gay people he promised to repeal the marriage equality act, which he never did.

OK. Finally got a valid response.
Honestly, it makes sense...
Here is her response:
The official platform of the Republican Party for 2016 states explicitly that they want to overturn the SCOTUS decision to legalize same sex marriage. It also wants to do away with transgender protections to use the facilities that corresponds with their gender identity. This is Trump's party therefore this is Trump's platform.
He himself has specifically said that SCOTUS was wrong and the same sex marriage decision should have been left up to the states and during the Iowa caucuses he pledged to appoint justices that would overturn this decision.
He also fully endorses HB2 in North Carolina which in my opinion is a travesty of petty finger pointing and discrimination.
His chosen running mate is Mike Pence who thinks sexuality is a choice, supports gay conversion therapy, and opposed the repeal of Don't Ask Don't Tell.
Here's a link to a CNN article that speaks to these issues and includes sources and video clips of his quotes one of which is "I'm for traditional marriage."

So yes, our LGBTQ friends, are in my opinion, rightfully offended and frightened that someone who has openly expressed a desire to invalidate their love and take away their right to be a family is now the leader of this country.
I've never wanted to be wrong more in my life than I want to be wrong about Trump but...it's not looking good.
