not really.

substantive due process of the 14A? yes really

can you even define the parameters of what SDP covers? its' limits? no

why? because it's magic, bullshite, and/or imagination

i'm pro-gay marriage but SDP is malarkey and a results-oriented crutch for a political side that can't win at the time within the institutional framework of the legal-political system

The fundamental right to marry
You say that as if it's a thing.

define marriage as a union between a man and a woman. Therefore, the SCOTUS chose not to interpret as it meaning between a man and a woman.

Marriage has no meaning if it's not between a man and a woman.

I mean if you chose to adhere to precedent in about a dozen SCOTUS decisions that define it as such, then yeah it is

according to what? The Bible? Marriage, at its core, is nothing more than a contract between two consenting adults of sound mind and body. Just like when you get divorced, you sign a Marital Dissolution Agreement, which is treated as a contract and is judged under contract law if one attempts to repudiate the agreement

in the rulings. I'd be more than happy to provide you with a list of cases. If you disagree with the SCOTUS ruling and/or interpretation, that's fine.

Stop being obtuse.

Fundamental rights are not in rulings.

Just remember, they are right because they are justices , not justices because they are right.

Gays are drama queens. They're really no different than teenage girls

A self-described “Christian, a conservative and a Republican, in that order."

people like this should not be in government, we are not a theocracy. as Barry Goldwater said...

quote:
“Mark my word, if and when these preachers get control of the [Republican] party, and they're sure trying to do so, it's going to be a terrible damn problem. Frankly, these people frighten me. Politics and governing demand compromise. But these Christians believe they are acting in the name of God, so they can't and won't compromise. I know, I've tried to deal with them.”

some of you may like what Pence said because you're Christian too, but you would lose your minds if a Jewish or Muslim Vice President had said the exact same thing.

if something is wrong its wrong, every single time, it doesn't get a pass on the occasions when it benefits you.

You do know AuH20 never got a Presidential Number ?

And 'au contraire' a Jewish man with values is nothing to fear... as well as the Moslem who's not a terrorist (u just can't tell'em apart) see Barcelona when your ancestors were in the dark ages, it was the epitome of tolerance, knowledge, and stability.

and yes when it's wrong, it's wrong... just like you at this moment. here's to when you're right

edit: spelling grammar

One of my children is a member of this community, college educated, and a productive member of society and they don't understand the hate for Trump. He's said nothing we can find about this and while they don't agree with everything about him they did vote Trump. They are afraid however to share their views with anyone their own age (millennial) or in the Gay/Lesbian community because of the group think mentality. Friends will cut you off if they find out you don't think like they do.

I'm not. You keep referencing the definition of marriage. Show me some case law that hasn't been overturned or a legal definition of marriage in a statute.

yes they are. The Supreme Court has recognized fundamental rights including the right to interstate travel, the right to parent one's children, Protection on the high seas from pirates, the right to privacy, the right to marriage, and the right of Self-Defense. These rights were not originally included in the Bill of Rights but they are nonetheless Constitutionally recognized rights as of today.

and just remember, regardless if you think they are correct, SCOTUS precedent rules until overturned.
