Last Chance U is on the move again. The hit Netflix program announced it will chronicle a west coast school in 2020 and will go behind the scenes with Laney College in Oakland, Calif.

Laney College enters 2019 following a strong season without the Last Chance U cameras. The Eagles went 11–2 last season and won the California Community College Athletic Association Football Championship

Head coach John Beam will lead the Eagles in 2019. He has been with the program since 2004, working as an assistant before earning the head coach role in 2012.

"Coach Beam has had a Hall of Fame career, and as he begins his 40th year coaching we’re thrilled at the chance we’ll get to tell the stories found on the team, the school, and within the city of Oakland itself," Last Chance U director Greg Whiteley told Esquire.

CJ Anderson went to Laney before transferring to Cal. Not sure what other NFLers went to Laney.

Not sure what makes this Last Chance U. They’re not in a desolate shite hole like Independence or Mississippi. They’re in California with what looks like the nicest campus on the show yet and way more opportunity than fricking Kansas and Mississippi

I don’t think anything will ever top season one. We had coaches fighting referees, QB battle, and two teams fighting at the end of the year. I never would’ve believed all of that shite happened to a team in one season. I’m guessing the show is very cheap to make since I haven’t heard much talk about the last two seasons.

Night and day versus the last two schools

Kind of takes away the charm of the show though

while I agree with this, I also like the change of pace/location.

We got a "traditional" winner in a crappy town in EMCC.
We got an "upstart" winner in another small town in ICC

and now we're getting more of a "nice" place

They need to go back to MS for more compelling stories.

Laney looks to be in contradiction of the show's name.

well just because it isn't located in a shithole and looks nice doesn't mean it isn't their "last chance"

but yeah, it does appear that the tone will certainly change for this school

I assume it will be a lot more inner city stories

meh, the first season of indy was fine and had compelling stories of it's own. This last year was a little lacking outside of garden city and browns firing, but overall the time spent in independence was fine

Wow!

that is much better than Indy, KS and Scooba, MS for sure!

but the appeal was getting these guys to the next level....don't see that here...maybe i am wrong.

I don't think the niceness of the campus has anything to do with the fact that this is likely the last chance some of these kids have to get back into a good school and make something of themselves (academically and/or athletically)

damn...I wish this show was around when Cam Newton left Florida lol.

Glad it's coming back. One of my favorite shows recently. Hope they can keep it up.

that's 100% true, but at this point after 4 years I think people are just used to them being in poor arse rural places that truly feel like a last chance, almost like a jail stint. This place looks like a damn vacation
