This week has been absolutely brutal on 103.7 in Lafayette. A lot of it seems to be coming from the fact that Napier didn't get the LSU job.

- the morning show, RP3 and Company, took a massive blow. Nick Diaz was producing it and he's all of a sudden gone for some reason. His knowledge of LSU, and college football in general, was carrying that show (despite him not being the host). It's very clear RP3 doesn't know college football that well. This morning he was explaining how ULL was a top 25 coaching job. Really??

- the 4:00 show used to be Ben Love, and his show was great stuff. He disappeared a few months ago, and I don't even know who is doing it but it's clear they are massive ULL homers, and are extremely out of touch with reality.

Monday they were sobbing through the show because Napier was leaving. They said they felt like he hadn't accomplished everything at ULL yet, and they wished he had stayed (meaning they didn't want him to leave until they reached a NY6 bowl).

First, Napier has pretty much reached the absolute ceiling at ULL. Second, it would take a whole hell of a lot to go right for ULL to ever have a legit chance at making a NY6 bowl. To expect him to stay until that happens is insane.

Yesterday there was a 30 minute shite on Brian Kelly fest on the show. As it went on, it became clear how clueless the host was, and that the hard feelings had more to do with Napier not getting it. "Nothing Kelly had done says he can win." (His winning % maybe does) "Kelly is not the right fit at LSU." "LSU needs stability, Kelly can't provide that." "Kelly's teams have not been able to beat SEC teams." (But he's not bringing his ND teams into the SEC). He then went out to create the perfect coach that LSU needs, and it was clear he was sculpting Napier. Then he gets to the end and even says, "somebody like Napier."

The delusion is real in Lafayette right now.

Why does that school exist in the first place?

I saw a billboard of Ben on Albertson's Parkway. He's an insurance agent now.

They wanted Napier here sooooo bad because they will never have anything else to lord over us (they will never ever be even close to the same caliber of program) and they saw an opportunity to have one if we got Napier. That’s it.

Typical Lafayette Tiger fan. Some of y’all wonder why Cajun fans have trouble pulling for LSU as a 2nd team.

God forbid that Cajun fans and a Lafayette radio station talk about UL. The audacity to focus on the local university.

SMH and y’all say we are obsessed with LSU.

RP3 is so bad and has the worst voice in radio.

103.7 isn't worth a shite since Ben left.

But of course they have hurt feelings over Napier leaving--he's the best coach they've had and there is no guarantee that they get someone even remotely as good as him. I don't blame them one bit for being upset that they are losing him.

The idiotic takes on Kelly are spot on for that pathetic excuse for a radio lineup, though. Would have been really interesting to hear Ben's take on that hire.

ULL fans are passionate and I appreciate that. But they lack self awareness big time. Many I know feel they are LSU’s instate rival and we all know that’s just not the case.

However, if Napier had been offered the LSU gig, I imagine the ULL fans would have turned on him like they did Yvette Girouard. They were absolutely horrible to her and her family when she came to LSU.

ULL and Napier can GFT. We aren't doing risky bargain bin shopping.

The ULL people are upset that we didn’t think enough of their coach and program to even consider him. It’s not even little brother syndrome anymore. They’re like distant cousin or aggravating kid across the street.

I think they are upset because they know their brief moment in the spotlight has come to an end and they will once again be relegated to an after thought in college football.

Nick Dias (not "z") left to work on his YouTube channel full time and also produces for LSU Sports radio. Outta My League is his channel.

Don't listen to that shitbox @CleanSlate - he doesn't know Nick.

If you're in to podcasts, you should check out Drunk on a Bucket. We are based in Lafayette and put out a weekly show centered around sports news (mostly LSU and Saints, but hit on national news as well) and other BS. Just an FYI, it is a NSFW listen. We all have our own bias, but the takes you posted are particularly bad

There is definitely a type of ULL fan that is very pleased Napier didn’t go to LSU.

LSU/Florida games going forward will be bigger than ULL games in those households.

Lafayette started turning their backs on LSU a few years ago after USL’s first bowl win. Merchandise pulled from a lot of the stores and so on. I remember USL walking out during class to protest the Tiger Sandwich at a Burger King near campus. Professors and all. Screw USL

So effing glad Bargain Bin Billy didn't even sniff an interview with LSU. He was trying to harness the exact same fan sentiment and local media influence that Ed used. The sad thing is that the same low-T fans bought into it and had Alleva been the AD, he probably makes that hire. Luckily Woody is in charge.

Their stadium holds like 41,000 and for their 10-1 team the last game drew 14,000. As I recall, their season attendance average was like 18,000+. I don’t know what’s going on over there but they have a lot bigger problems than worrying about who gets the LSU gig.
