This Woodward Everyone Talks About is a Myth

This might seem harsh, but that's right, this 'Woodward as a closer for big name coaches' is 1,000% a myth. He's been basically handed every big coach he's hired.
He hired Sarkisian. Then he had to clean it up so he found a strong coach who wanted to 'social climb' the ranks and was looking to move to a major conference - Chris Petersen.
He hired Jimbo who knew he'd run FSU into the ground and needed a golden parachute, which idiot Woodward gave him to the tune of $78M at AtM.
He hired Mulkey - big deal, Baylor was dissing her and she was looking to quietly get out. Here comes Woodward.
Jay Johnson wasn't his first, second, or third choice. His assistant with ties to the school where Johnson coached worked that deal.
Unfortunately it's all crashing down, and he's being exposed for the fraud he really is. Unless he pulls, Saban, Rhule, or Brian Kelly out of his arse he's going to look weak. So much for the best job in College Football.

The fact that people act like he did something amazing and ballsy by getting Jimbo to A&M is the most comical part.
That contract for that coach is a joke. Maybe he can do something with a sick recruiting class, but I’m guessing they lose some good players who see the writing on the wall that this dudes 1996 offense ain’t shite.

And how will you look if he does pull a big hire?

It's not even noon, on the day following the end of the regular season, and some of you have completely given up. I'd hate to see how you folks would respond in a truly dire situation, like war.

Whether this is true or not, the bigger issue is that he is 100% a “good ol boy” through and through.
If he isn’t willing to tell his buddies to STFU and get out of his way to make this hire and we end up with some local hack media created Napier figure that they all “like” and are “comfortable with”, then the golden era truly is over and we’re back to the Dean days.

Was thinking the exact same thing
I wouldn’t want these clowns even on my paintball team

I’m guessing he will be happy that he’s wrong and will come back and clean this up after. Or maybe not. Lol

So your make believe boyfriend from OU has left you feeling jilted, and in your perverse fantasy world, it's all Woodward's fault ?

He's Alleva 2.0 but harder to get rid of because he's plugged into the good ole boy network. He threw a boatload of money at Riley, thought he was done, and went duck hunting. When that fell through, he didn't have a backup. The other top tier coaches are locked up or feel insulted and he's scrambling to find somebody on the C or D list.
O was "one of us" to the folks down the bayou and they were willing to overlook anything. Woodward is the same way for the South Baton Rouge/Catholic High crowd

I don't know the man, but I do not understand all the deference for his judgment and abilities.
An AD given enough money can make some big name hires. So, Woodward has thrown around some very big bucks and gotten some big names.
How have those investments worked out so far?
Too soon to tell on Mulkey and Johnson, although they look very good now. But good enough for that kind of money? It will take a few years to know.
It appears to me Fisher was paid too much, as was Orgeron on his contract extension.
Not against him by any means, but not awed by what I have seen, either.

All I know is that I feel much better with Woodward driving this train than @ss hat Alleva.
So he brought in Jimbo at A&M who LSU was also trying to get. So he won that battle against LSU. And I'm glad he did, otherwise we would have Jimbo now and wouldn't have won the 2019 title.
He brought in lots of money and facilities at A&M and Washington and brought in solid coaches.
He then did the same at LSU in WBB and baseball. So I'm happy with him at this point and give him the benefit of the doubt. I'm glad it isn't Alleva.

Stopped reading after this as it made it crystal clear you have no idea what you're talking about.

SW’s best attribute is his ability to fund raise. He has to get credit for that because that’s not an easy job, unless you know a bunch of boosters with more money than sense? Hmm…
SW can sell boosters a vision of a dominant program better than he can sell LSU to coaches.
