He was responsible for making sure our home was restored after Hurricane Ida. This contractor always talked about whiskey and I wanted to get him something special.

I’m looking for a real smooth no bite whiskey.

Scotch or bourbon?

And how much do you want to spend? There are some great bottles at Costco that won’t break the bank

How much are you willing to spend? Scotch, irish, or bourbon? Rye or straight?

If it’s a contractor, Blue Label.

Specific Whisk(e)y is a personal taste thing to folks who are aficionados.

They may like a $200 bottle of one variety and dislike a $400 bottle of another brand.

You’re going to need more information on his personal tastes or you will just be taking a shot….in the dark.

I’d take this at ~$250 or so but that’s just my personal taste. You won’t insult him with this as a gift.

A good bourbon that won’t break the bank is Woodford Reserve

I’m partial to a nice bottle of Ancient Age but if you are in town, go to Calandro’s on Perkins at Siegen and you will get excellent help in this choice.

Has a little novelty behind it. They put the wooden kegs in cargo containers and sail them around the world. So the whiskey rocks to the oceans motion!!!!

If you have a Costco nearby, they usually have at least one decent bourbon all the time, whistle pig or 4 roses and one or two from time to time. Last month the Costco in Mobile had Blanton's for 69.00 and eagle rare for 49.00. I'd check there pretty frequently as it sells fast when they get any of the buffalo trace bourbons in.

Depends on price point:
If $50-$75 range, I think something from the Old Forrester Whiskey Row series is a great choice - doesn’t break the bank, it’s unique and delicious, available, and they have a good story which sets them out or a trip to try the rest of the series. 1910 is my preference, just a great pour.

If going at a higher price point, it’s really just what you think they’ll like and you can find.

Breckinridge whiskeys are pretty good. My favorite “affordable” is Wild Turkey’s Kentucky Spirit. I’d put it up against Blanton’s any day.

Hirsch if you can find it.

Markers Mark makes a great gift because of the cool red wax. Also tastes great.

Had some Belfour last night, it was REAL nice. I think its only sold in Texas and Illinois at the moment though.
