A Texas youth football team with a perfect record has been banned from playing in the playoffs.
Banned from playoffs for being to good.
Long time lurker. No family today. Was just surfing around and found this. Sad world we live in when you get punished for being good.

The coach of the other team that “banned” them is a baby-back bitch.
He was pissed that the new team (with a female coach) came in and beat his team only allowing 7 points.

I’m curious as to how they are assembling teams in this 7-8 year old football league.
7 year olds didn’t “get good” at football, such that an entire team of them will be that much better than everyone else’s team. It’s obviously a team loaded with ringers.

Is this rec league or a travel league?
Random assignment?
Maybe They should move up a division if that’s possible.
Better competition for them.
In the end, it does not matter. Losing or winning a game is not the end of the world.
Let them play.
Maybe they have a couple of really skilled kids. Does not take much to dominance at 7.

This sounds like the rec league team from Baldwin that played in our New Iberia league. Never lost and routinely trotted out a bunch of Danny Almonte’s. I guess playing with a bunch of 14 year olds against 12 year olds is fun for the parents?
Regardless, they were never banned mid season, although they did stop playing in the league eventually.

I got the impression that the team was from out of "town" and this was their 1st year in the Keller league. Keller added them to their league and got their asses kicked.
I don't think the problem was having a team full of ringers. At that age, just a couple of ringers can make a huge difference.
Back in the day, buddy of mine had two sons who were about 13 months apart. The younger one ended up playing D-1 ball. The older one was unusually coordinated for his age and was a throwing QB in a league that was almost all run. The young one was fast and agile and the older one threw a nice ball for a 7 year old. I don't remember the overall talent level on their team or in their league, but you could count on one or both of those kids making several long plays every game. It was fun to watch!
