We're gonna need a lot of natural gas and coal for those charging stations

Imagine calling someone a simpleton and imbecile when you also have no clue what you're talking about

Well tell me how it works . Can I drive further with an electric car then a gas car ? You can drive across the country with a gas car , only stopping to fuel up. So you’re telling me I can drive the same distance in the same time with an electric car ? I’m all ears educate me .

What we must understand is that there is NO WAY that all of the internal combustion vehicles in the US can be exchanged 1 for 1 with EVs. There will NEVER be enough power generation capacity in the US to accomplish this, especially when fossil fuels are being drastically reduced as a form of energy production. The only way to transition to EVs is to have FAR fewer automobiles, that are allowed to be driven FAR fewer miles per month/year. In other words, the goal is to drastically reduce our freedom of movement/travel, and force more people to live in cities where they will rely on public transportation and can be more readily controlled.

You may stop at 15-20% and only need to charge to 70% or so, for example, to get to your next super charger.

Must be fun planning trips around the location of these proprietary “super chargers”.

Charging a Tesla at home may increase your electric bill by around $20 to $50 every month.

Your point is kind of retarded. How much do you spend on gas per month?

Yup. Or the alternative is, build 150+ nuclear power plants to power a near 100% passenger EV society. I don't think that would include commercial and hauling. And actually they've been in the process of shutting down plants. Nuclear power more or less peaked 30 years ago, although they are expanding some plant capacity.

Also, this does not account for population increase.

What they are talking about is nonsense.

Well, probably wants to see his wife get banged every hour or two anyway.

Literally no common sense with a person like that.

When a big hurricane hits a US coastal area, try charging up for a few weeks after. If an electric vehicle is your only transportation, you’re SOL.

Same applies for any natural disaster that knocks out power for a while.

I have read all 4 pages of this thread and I must have
missed it....how much to fully charge one of these EV's?

ETD: sorry, my bad. What is the cost to fully charge?

Regular outlet at home probably 1-2 days.
Level 2 charging like 8+ hours
Superchargers 20-35 minutes.

For something like a tesla.

The more important question is how is all this is powered at scale? The answer, it isn't.

If there is ever better batteries, which I kind think there won't be... looking at 100-200 year transition.

Eh, this happens anyway given the current state of our vehicles and their electronics.

I know it sounds crazy, but I just bought an '89 Chevy (the year before EFI). There's not a chip in the whole fricking thing.
