I can drive from my home to Orlando, FL (700 miles) in 11 hours with one 10 minute stop for fuel. How long would that same trip take stopping to recharge an electric car?

That depends. Did you spend $140k for the extra, extra long extended run time battery vehicle? You know, the one that gets 350 miles per charge.

How long does it take to fully charge an electric car? Serious question. I have no idea. I'm assuming 3-4 hours minimum. How far am I off?

Not to mention that you then have to wait half an hour while the thing charges.

What cars get a full charge on 10-15 minutes? I would get one if this were the case.

quote:

A typical electric car (60kWh battery) takes just under 8 hours to charge from empty-to-full with a 7kW charging point.

quote:

Level 1 battery outlets (like the ones you use at home) charge at 120 volts, which typically provide up to 50 miles of driving range in about 10 hours. If you have more battery capacity (measured in kWh), you’ll need more time to charge your car battery fully.

What a fricking simpleton , 5 mins to fuel up a tank to drive 400 miles . Electric cars take four hours to charge to drive that same distance . Imbeciles !

Surprised they didn't throw the kitchen sink in and offer a $10K tax credit for buying an e-vehicle.

Throw in $9,000 of FEMA money for a Covid-related funeral and you're half way to a ride in a sweet Greta Thunberg mobile

Leave science fiction out this discussion. Doubt it?

Leave the myth to L Ron Hubbard .....sorry he's dead.

Name one country that has tested an EMP device to success.. Name one...you can't because there aren't any ...

How high to detonate for maximum efficiency?

Too low.....you blow up a city....nothing else.

Starfish prime?

or possibly non nuclear

NNEMP technology is also not a highly complex one, which means that countries of varying sizes, capabilities, and military prowess have the technology in their arsenal. When NNEMPs are implemented in bombs or missiles, they are referred to as e-bombs. Notably, the US used an e-bomb in 2003 in an effort to knock out Saddam Hussein's propaganda network.

Seems like anybody could really make them. And we sell our tech to these people all the time.

Yes you can. There are charging stations everywhere. If you own a Tesla you can use their supercharging network to drive anywhere in the country.

In a Tesla model 3 you can make that same 700 mile trip with one 32 minute charge to 80% capacity. So it would take 22 minutes longer then your gas powered vehicle. You should be able to stop and grab something to eat while your vehicle charges

Something to keep in mind new Tesla's that are coming will have even higher voltage systems and will be able to charge even faster. The rumors are it will be sub 20 minutes for 80% charge.

This is a lie. Adding charging stations everywhere means you can charge up, drive a short distance, then charge up again for hours , then drive a short distance, then charge up again for hours , rinse and repeat.

Why does this lie keep getting repeated over and over again.

The Tesla Model 3 can charge from 0 to 80% in 32 minutes using the SuperCharger network. 80% to 100% takes an additional 31 minutes. Under most circumstances you would not charge past 80% because it is not needed. In the Model 3 you can charge 286 miles of range in that 32 minutes. Model S has 396 Miles of range so that same stop would get you 317 miles.

It's not hours and hours of charging to get anywhere. It's not even that much more time when you factor in stops for bathrooms and food.

None yet. The Tesla Model 3 charges to 0% to 80% in 32 minutes on a supercharger.

The next generation Tesla's will be running 800+ Volts and will be able to do that same charge in 1/2 the time.

500 Mile range and charge to 80% in under 20 minutes are coming very soon.

Natty gas, coal is going away quick here. It’s below nuke, combined renewables, and gas in percentage in the US now. It’s gonna be almost nothing in just a few years. We have stopped investing in the coal plants and they are all pretty much running by duct tape fixes until failure or planned shutdown.

I just ran 6 destinations I frequently travel which are all on interstate highways into the Tesla route planner. Drive time ranged from the same as I do now to an hour more. The worst problem is I would have to stop in locations I have no desire to stop at for anything ever, some were even miles off the interstate.

None but you don't need a full charge to get to the next super charging station.

I made a 5-6 drive on Monday and again Tuesday, charged twice for each trip. Once for 10 minutes and once for 15 minutes.

That's not a super charging station.

Correct, and you aren't stopping at the station with 0% nor do you absolutely have to go to 80%, which is why the typical stop is 10-15 minutes on a trip.

You may stop at 15-20% and only need to charge to 70% or so, for example, to get to your next super charger.
