Will Elon get there first and if so, how will he hold on to it vs the latecomers? Will the US and its allies fight China over it in the first extraplanetary war? Sci Fi is becoming reality in our lifetimes.

No one truly owns any piece of land. They merely hold it until someone stronger takes it from them
Which is why the notion of recognizing that land once owned to some other tribe (who conquered it from another before them) is ridiculous if you don’t recognize who conquered it presently
