Fred’s Bar and Grill is planning a massive expansion: a 30,000-square-foot, three-level beer garden in the parking lot of the iconic Tigerland watering hole, owner Mark Fraoli confirms.

In June 2020, Fred’s filed for permits to add a nearly 9,000-square-foot, two-level bar onto the back of the establishment, which would have nearly tripled its space to 11,600 square feet.

But the plans have evolved since then, and Fraoli has decided to go big with something he says will be unique to Baton Rouge.

The bar scene at LSU is really really lacking compared to a lot of other SEC cities/towns

No lie I loved Freds. Would sometimes wander over even though I was way to old to step foot in there.

You probably wouldn’t have wanted it when that guy drank himself to death at Murphy’s.

Marks story is one of redemption like Jesus coming back from the dead, except death was being an insurance salesman, and resurrection involves Salt Life and Jeeps.

Tigerland bars are money printing machines. They just need to do away with all parking at this point or put a parking lot on some of the empty space around Tigerland and have the few that park walk.
