Would like to get a thread started on trading bots. I started using bots back in August, and have been very happy with the returns. Was wondering if anyone else was using them? What types of bots are everybody using? Maybe some discussions on different settings, etc.

I'll start it off with my experience so far. Started using 3 Comma's DCA bots in August, and after tweaking this thing over time, have finally landed on settings that seem to be effective, and safe. I'm sure I will continue to tweak it depending on the market. One thing I have learned is that I'm not worried about the day to day changes in the market. As long as the market doesn't crash to zero, I will make money. That's the beauty of these things.

I started doing research on crypto bots recently.

You're right: it's VERY hard to lose money on these things if your settings are right and if you have enough money to cover your safety orders.

In the video I watched, the guy had 40 DCA bots that were 20-25 safety orders deep (using 3Commas). It would take a market-wide catastrophe for him to lose money.

How did you get educated on which bots are available, setting them up, etc.?

I've had the idea for some time but figured I would have to write the programming myself which I'm not capable of doing. Obvi didn't realize there were some already available for public use.

From reading this, I went and started my own. Using the free plan for now with 1 composite bot trading 5 pairs and allowing 5 deals at a time with 20 SOs like stated. It's performing really well. It's underfunded, I only put 1250 with buy/so set to $10, that could potentially be 210 per bot, so only slightly underfunded.

My question is what is the advantage of the single bots over the composite? The only thing i see is no place to set a trailing deviation in the composite bot. Are there any other differences?

I've come to realize that the bots are just doing progression betting by rolling up the bet amount as the coin price falls. Think doubling your bet after every loss at the crap table. Maybe this is obvious to everyone but the light bulb just went off for me. I think that's why setting the SO at 30+ is key otherwise you hit the table max and you are stuck.

After following this post closely and enjoying and digesting the input from Mach316, Tigerfan311, LordSaintly, and others posting I've decided to dip my toe in bots as well. I have a few noob questions. I'm starting with 2k seed money and going with 3Commas advanced. Which exchange other than Binance is best? Kucoin, FTX, or CB pro? Mach, I've seen you've tweaked your settings a few times over these posts and you're not really following Trade Alts settings closely, any recommendations for small bankroll settings? Are USD pairs still the best option starting out? Thanks in advance.

Im finally getting around to reading this and its fascinating. I want to get in but i have so many questions. I intend to watch the videos with my limited free time throughout the week, but maybe you folks can help with two questions right off the bat.

If I sell a large part of my holdings to fund this, lets say 25k worth, wouldnt I need to get about 10k profit from this just to pay off the capital gains from that initial selloff?

#2 Can you take wallets you already have and tranfers them into this equation? If I already have link, for instance

Again thanks for the help Mach, Saintly and others. I got my bots started with 2k and have been making around 50 a day so far. I started during the dip, figuring it could only get better when everything rises again. Mach, I did something and kinda want your thoughts on it.
I set my initial bots up according to the Alt vids, then I used the discover a bot function and found the best performing bot based off my exchange, and copied their bot/settings. Its a multipair bot that is closing deals very well right. What are your thoughts on going that route?

I’m starting to think that if these bots get out of range by more than 5% they’re not set up right.

I have a KSM bot right now that is 4.25% out of the money, with 15 of 20 safety orders here daily low and last SO was 2% lower . Safety order scale is 1.07, might need to bump that up to 1.1 to keep it closer to an all time current price.

Is the Coinbase pro API creation broken?
When I get the key I only get a secret key and 3 commas wants both. Am I doing something wrong? Thanks

Got it. Ignore this.

Question about 3Commas. I have a Btc/usd pair, on the history page the deal closed. On the line it has a red number above the a green number a line and two numbers under that. Did I lose money on this trade? I can’t seem to find any info on how to read this page. Thanks

This is a great thread! I couldn't sleep the other night and was perusing the Money board and decided to check it out and read all 27 pages and setup some accounts the next day. I'm sure the end of January was rough, but I think crypto will stay around this trading range for the near term and it seems like bots could be pretty useful in a choppy markets.

Anybody using Cryptohopper? I've setup trial accounts on both it and 3commas. I just setup the 3commas account last night, so I'm still feeling my way around it.

So far, it seems like Cryptohopper gives you more options for buy triggers. I only see some preset TA triggers for buy signals on 3commas, wheras CH allows you to use just about any technical analysis to signal buys.

Are most of you guys just using buy asap?

I also like that Cryptohopper lets you run up to 15 coins in the same "hopper". Am I correct that with 3commas you setup a bot for each coin you want to trade?

I saw a video where someone was talking about 3commas letting you do a take profit with only part of a position, which was really intriguing to me. Has anyone set their bots up to do this? Example, sell 50% of the position at 2% up. I don't see how to set this up, though.
