And unlike last year, trick-or-treating can go ahead this season — that's according to the nation's top infectious disease expert, Dr. Anthony Fauci.

"I think that, particularly if you're vaccinated, you can get out there and enjoy it," Fauci told CNN's State of the Union this weekend.

Halloween has turned into a fragmented, watered down version of what is used to be. Instead of everyone trick or treating on Halloween night, parents take their kids to "safe zones" like churches or parking lots or down commercial streets where they can go collect candy while wearing a costume (I don't call that trick or treating). These events trypically aren't even on Halloween. Some towns schedule a night for trick or treating that's not even on Halloween night. Why!?

We are robbing our children of one of the most special times of being a child. There's nothing like trick or treating on Halloween night. Seeing mobs of kids all walking the dark streets at the same time, having nearly all houses in all neighborhoods with their lights on inviting trick or treaters, and being able to look forward to that night every year without having to ask "what night are we allowed to trick or treat this year?"

Halloween should not be a carefully planned, controlled event where old people force kids to engage in Halloween on the old people's terms. Halloween is Halloween and old people should deal with it and give the kids the Halloween they got when they were kids!

Gotta watch out for the shitstains being bussed in from the ghetto to get candy

My neighborhood actually passed out wristbands this year because it has gotten so bad. No wristband no candy

Halloween and trick or treating should be just like in the Bible, on October 31, rain or shine.

Jesus’ favorite costume was Geronimo. He did the loin cloth, war paint and all. It’s in Ephesians.

This problem extends beyond Halloween. Children are babied much more these days, some reasons good and some bad. Technology has made these kids live through a screen. Their day to day interactions with other people are minimal. What we called ‘part of growing up’ is now labeled as bullying, violence, discriminatory, dangerous, etc.

Lots of kids these days can’t walk down the street to a friend’s house without needing the GPS on their phone.

Hey, I'm 56. Ain't necessarily being old that is the problem. Got 2 grandkids coming to my hood to TorT with other adult family to see them have a good time, most everyone in my hood participates, and always has for 15+ years. Fixing a couple batches of chili and making a family get together of it for the 5th year now.
Since the grandkids are here, it has become a sort of pre-game warmup for the holiday season.
We usually have north of 100-150 kids come to our house if the weather is OK. We are in a nice suburb 10-15 miles outside of downtown though, so I'm sure that helps.

And BTW...GET OFF MY LAWN YOU UPPITY WHIPPERSNAPPER!!!

2nd stupidest of the stupid "holidays". Right behind Valentine's.

Never went trick or treating. It was stupid when I was growing up. And it's still stupid.

This gets posted every single year.

Relax Francis, it will be fine.

Kids will still trick or treat. It’s just doesn’t seem as glamorous as it did when you were a kid. Nothing has changed.

shite, they had these “safe zones” when I trick or treated 40 years ago.

This woman just moved to our town and she posted on Facebook that she wasn’t sure how many kids to expect. She just so happened to move to ground zero for trick or treating . The other parents told her to plan for at least 900 kids. Can’t wait to see all of this.

Everyone in my neighborhood treated last year, and have plans to treat this year like every other Halloween we’ve ever had. Trick or treating, hanging out in front yards with neighbors, etc.

My neighborhood is more active than ever on Halloween. We set up a DJ at once house and have a block party people come party before, during, and after they go trick or treating.

Bruh, no one is taking anything away from kids. I stopped listening to fauci once he flip flopped on mask efficacy.
