If it was Saban any chance he would show interest just to screw with us and leave us last second scrambling for a coach super late?

Saban might consider rebuilding the franchise and Napier could be about him coming into the OC position, HC in waiting.

I too have convinced myself it’s Saban.
He’s the only white whale imo, not Riley or Franklin

I agree

And you make more sense than any other poster on this board.

He can coach here 5 or more years and cruise in to a few more National Championships

No other coach in history or ever will match that record.

And won’t have to put up with those InsecureU fans that lose their minds

If he loses one game.

Just like Texas Saban would never come back to LSU for one reason… the culture. Alabama is the one place Saban’s method can work and everyone is crazy enough about football to buy in. LSU’s culture is way too pussy now.

I’m not opposed to this. This would be the only “mythical” hire IMO. Plus there’s way too much chatter about everyone else who is not Saban.

I think a part of Saban wishes he could help here because it's like your first love that you never lose feelings for even though they are the enemy. But he's not coming back here you can bank on that.

Good post. Don’t let the downvotes mean anything. Most everyone wants him back but they just don’t want to get their hopes up. Your reasons are logical. Add to them the need to make a home run hire and that Saban, despite his success, isn’t as happy at Bama as some might think. At age 70 he may simply want to win championships and be happy.

I’m hearing he (Saban) took the $12.5m 8yr $100m deal at LSU and will work in the AD and fundraising after stepping away from coaching.

Supposedly not getting along with the admins at Bama behind the scenes and is ready for a change.

A very small handful of people actively involved in keeping this under wraps until the appropriate time.
