Michigan

@ Purdue

@ OSU

Penn State

He can easily go 0-4 in those games and the majority of us can rest easy that he won't be considered but IF he pulls off upsets and goes 3-1 or 2-4....

How would you feel about him? It's a huge IF but Woodwards in no rush to hire so let's let his Mich St season play out.

Right. Tucker is out there as a name to watch right now. If he falls flat on his face in the next four games then he will drop out of consideration. If he wins 2 or 3 and is competitive in the others then he will remain a name to watch.

Tucker could finish 10-2 or 11-1 and folks will still dig up another excuse of why they don't want him.

If we’re basing this hire on one season, let’s rehire Orgeron, he has the best one season of all.

I’d actually prefer a guy that has been around long enough to deal with some staff turnover and at least one roster turnover (4 years) and maintained a program. As we’ve seen, lightening can be bottled for one year by an idiot.

He's in year 2 of the program. First year being a shite covid year getting the program together. Why are fans so judgmental about the outcome of games in determining the big overall picture of whether a coach is a good fit to build and lead a program into the future?

Les Miles went 4-7,8-5, 9-4, 7-5 then BAM hired as LSU coach.

People saying he’s trash are way too hasty.

The issue isn’t that we know he sucks.

The issue is that we don’t know much about him as a HC at all. That’s way to risky a pick.

By all accounts he’s a good defensive mind and a great recruiter.

But he’s in his third season as a HC and 2 of those seasons were year 1 which is always hard to judge.

I dont Love the risk. Way to hard to evaluate

But I agree with the OP. He has time to prove one way or another. There is a reason his name is being floated and not Dino Barbers or Willie Taggert.

LSU should and can do better than a Les Miles hire. Also, that’s 4 full years of resume.

This guy already has two losing seasons and is not even through this season.

I just can’t see how LSU can’t do better. Should have to be more proven. Way too early in his coaching career and he is only 14-12. I could actually see them losing out. I guess they should be favored against Maryland though.

He's not at the top of my list.... and for what? My opinion is not going to change your mind. Im just sick of people whining about Mel Tucker. I do think he'll be a much better HC here than most of the name thats been circulating this board for the last 48 hours.

1st. The covid excuse needs to stop, every other team dealt with it. MSU was coming off a 7-5 season and he went 2-5. Not good. At Colorado he was 5-7 and got a promotion to MSU. This will be his 1st winning season and somehow he's a legitimate candidate to take over at LSU.

If he was not black would we even be having this discussion?

If you're going to be an a-hole to others for not wanting him (giving no reason for why they are not wanting him) and make statements like the above, then put up or shut up. Why do you think he's better than most of the other names?

Based on two and a half years of head coaching experience at two different programs?

I feel like we've entered the twilight zone to 5 years ago when posters were trying to convince this board that Orgeron would be a great hire because of his recruiting and where he was as an assistant.

It definitely would not help his case if he manages to lose two extra games out of nowhere.

In Tucker’s defense he wasn’t iust a DL coach at UGA, and Saban thought enough of him that I think he was going to originally replace Smart as DC till Smart snagged him.
