re: Realistically - what could have been done post-2019 to prevent where we are?

I keep wondering where we would be this season if the 2020 season had been cancelled.
I doubt we would have nearly as many fake injury opt-outs. Brennan is probably our starting quarterback right now.

Pay Aranda and Brady 6 million each with co titles. Joe Brady in booth, Aranda with field head set. Let Ed O go run the beaches and tail.

Brady and Burrow covered up much of the line deficiencies. If O would’ve done more legwork other than trust Slinger could replicate the playbook and think any coordinator could run the d.
Again stop with the 2019 OL was not good. Cushenberry and D. Lewis were drafted in the 2020 draft. Both in 2020 started all 16 games for Denver and Seattle, respectively. Sadiq was also drafted in the 2020 draft (he played 9 of LSU's 15 games; serving a 6 game suspension for selected games). Charles made 1 start as a rookie and played in another before having an injury last year.
S0 3 guys off the LSU 2019 OL were in the NFL and 2020 and all of them made their respective teams.
The OL deficiencies of the 2021 team are more to do with the 2018 to 2020 Coach O recruiting classes. Too many misses in terms of evaluation or not developing as players.

Better talent evaluation?

Instead of overpaying Orgeron buy better coordinators by paying them $4M each. Everyone has a price.
Orgeron $4.5M
OC……..$4M
DC……..$4M

Terminate Ed's contract instead of extend it.

Recruited and landed top Oline prospects for one. Two, stay far away from Bo Pelini. Three, hire proven and skillful offensive coordinator. Four, replace the running backs coach with a proven RB coach. Five, replace Oline Coordinator with a proven Oline Coordinator. Six, stay out of politics....away from that woke culture.

Given Joe Brady like 4 Mil a year, given Aranda the same.

With losing all of the players, coordinators, and covid on the horizon it was going to be a tough road regardless. But when O made the two horrific hires of Bo Pelini and Scott Linehan to replace Brady and Aranda, he pretty much sealed his fate. Everything we are seeing now and last year could have been prevented had he hired the best coordinators, what he promised to do when he was announced as head coach in 2017, and he fell flat on his face.

Hire top coordinators who can recruit and drive a committed culture

When you have essentially 19 guys who were major contributors and both your DC and a your key passing game coordinators move on all at the same time, it does create a huge vacuum to fill. Couple that with Covid and the opt outs and your mountain gets higher and steeper
Much of this is legit. There was gonna be a drop-off. Losing Brennan was big too.
But a lot was self-inflicted. Ed was lazy (still is) and didn't interview Pelini. After here, Pelini let him know that we didn't have the personnel to play 4 on the DL. And we did it anyway. That's all one big bag of bad decision making.

Recruit better offensively linemen.

Here’s a start.
Stop chasing pussy after his divorce and focus on his damn job. Orgeron put nothing into his job and pretty much said so when he admitted he made some hires without even interviewing the Coaches.
Who the fuk does that if they care at all?

Not give 0 a contract extension worth 8.5 million/year. Once he got paid, his ego got too big and he started to believe that he is the main reason for 2019.
We now know it was the exception and the O we know is the O Ole Miss knows.
The financial impact to extinguish this dumpster fire would not have been as high, but there was no avoiding the fire.

I think we were headed to this point one way or another eventually,
Why do you think this?
Why didn't this all happen to any other program? What made LSU different and makes you think this was inevitable?

1. Hire a solid DC to replace Aranda. A lot of the issues are this simple. I guarantee you if we got someone like Schuman our D would not be nearly as bad the past 2 years. Boxing himself into a 4-man front killed his options, though. There aren't that many rising DCs in CFB who use the 4-man front these days. That's how we got Bo P and Jones.
2. On offense, we weren't keeping Brady and E was likely not leaving, so once Brennan went down we were in trouble. We did fine with MB last year on offense, it's just our D was historically bad. This year, however, we needed a good, college OC. It didn't have to be "da Brady aw-fence" or anything.

This was pretty much done during the season. Running to him like Miss Elizabeth every week was all for show.
By all accounts she had massive issues and was a cancer in the football ops building.

Had a head coach who was more worried about winning his next national championship instead of worrying about chasing skank cooter.
