I was a 22 year old 2nd Lieutenant in Korea. I've gained about 55 lbs and thousands of miles since then.

I ran the Army 10 miler in 2000 in 82 minutes (had to take a shite on mile 8)

Aforementioned 10k.

18k in Baghdad in 2011 in 1:30:30 (missed a complete 8 minute pace by 30 seconds).

Half Marathon in 2017 in 1:51:38.

My goal is to run a marathon under 4 hours before I turn 45 (43 now)

35, 6’0”, 185lbs

Checked my app and fastest one mile run is 7:48
Best 5k was 8:05 per mile

Hard to get a single mile time. First mile is typically the slowest for me and if I’m doing a single mile it’s most likely part of another workout.

42, 6’ 175 lbs. I can run one mile around 8 minutes. Lungs are fine for longer but not calves, which is weird because I can cover 5 miles of a typical pickup basketball day fine.

33 years ago my time on the 2 mile run portion of the final PT test was 11:54. Not close to the fastest in the platoon. But still respectable.

If you can’t run under a 10 minute mile you need to make some lifestyle changes immediately

I have no idea if I could run a mile, much less a 10 minute mile. Nor do I have any desire to figure it out.

But my 6 year old ran an 8:23 mile last week.

If you can run at all, you can run sub 10. You can walk a 14 min mile

I can push a sub 7 min mile, but I'll scream internally afterward.

Hmmm. Probably, but I would be pretty gassed at the end. It would not be a comfortable run.

Been a while since I've tried it, but I'm pretty confident that I could run a mile in under 10.

Probably, but it wouldn’t be easy, and my knees would be a little sore

I am 53, 20 lbs overweight with achilles tendinitis which keeps me from running, so I walk 15-20 miles a week. I can still run a 7 minute mile, but I'd hurt the next day.
