Can run it between 6-630. Still can’t run a 5k in sub 20 mins though.

Sub 20 was a huge hurdle for me but finally achieved it last season. 18:48. Keep at it, you'll get it

An OT 5k will be known as the fastest 5k evah.
On paper.

Average OT 5k claimed times: <19:00.

Real life average OT 5k times: >29:00

Too old and far too beat up in the knees to even attempt that now. After 3 right knee surgeries, 2 requiring it to be opened up and one orthoscopic it just can't take the pounding now.

However, when younger and with good knees me and a friend would run no less than 4 days a week and eventually worked up to 10 mile runs at a 6 minute per mile pace.

Then work and life got in my way for me but he continued on and ran quite a few marathons before Father Time and injury caught up with him.

With me just a few weeks from age 69, I don't see any reason to try to recapture those times even if I could.

Ran a local 5K today. New PR for me just under 7:30/mile. I got beat by a guy pushing a stroller. A little embarrassing.

ETA: That was good for a top 20 finish and nearly 1st in my age group.

My splits are typically between 8:05 and 9:10.

Last half marathon (2017) was 1:51:40.

Fastest I ever ran a long distance run was a 10k in 41 minutes back in 2001.

It would prove 80% of the posters in this thread are liars.

I mean if you have anything even resembling a decent fitness level 10 min miles are very easily attainable and very slow for many.

Go for it man. You'd be surprised what you can do.

Funny you say that. My son who started middle school this year wants to be able to do distance running, mainly because he's in boy scouts. It'll be good for both of us, I'm working on making those changes for myself and encouraging the boy to pick up good healthy habits.

That is true, I give you that.

But I feel like a lot of posters really overestimate their cardio fitness in these threads.

A 41 10k is smokin! Good work. My personal best was in Mobile on azalea trail which is an extremely fast, flat course was 46 and some change.
