There's a lot of smoke that he could be out a "few" weeks. Pair that with he didn't practice all of fall camp because of an injury. Getting ready for the draft. Say LSU loses this weekend then what's he playing for?

Yep.

If he misses pretty much the month of October he may decide it's not worth coming back for games in Nov. Particularly if LSU isn't really playing for anything big at that point.

Fans hate it, but the reality many refuse to accept is that most of the top players don't love their school as much as the fans do. It's a necessary step they have to take in order to get where they really want to go...the NFL and all of its riches. For many, the mindset is the sooner they can leave the better. At some point the player (no doubt receiving advice from adults) might decide the risk (serious injury lowering their draft stock or preventing them from being drafted at all) doesn't outweigh the reward (playing in a few relatively meaningless...in the grand scheme of things...college games).

As a fan you hate it because you want the players to be as invested in the university/team as you are. But the reality is most aren't

Why is it every exceptional underclassmen at LSU is all of a sudden hurt and opting out as juniors? Why is this happening all the time, every year at LSU?

Not true. He was already in this position to start the season.. & he played.

He's battling a recurring injury & he'll be back. No need for people to be speculating that it's a lisfranc injury with no basis other than rumors. They already said it's something he's was dealing with back in camp.

It's almost like they want him to opt out so they can bitch and say i told you so.

Its a chicken or egg type of thing. Or maybe a self fulfilling prophecy. I just think a lot of us- Saw his draft grade, considering his injury history and seeing Chase opt out last year put 2 & 2 together.

I definitely don't give a frick ab saying I told you so. I hope I'm wrong and he comes back, tears it up and leads us to another title.

But.. if he really is opting out due to what some fans said on msg board said.. what "Honkus" on Tigerdroppongs posted.. well thats Kobe Bryant gif "SOFT". The best thing Sr. Could have taught him is to block out all this noise. It's mostly just fans blowing off steam. It means nothing.

I think blaming the fans is just an easier out then the truth. He doesn't have much to prove to NFL scouts and wants to avoid a catastrophic injury.

There has been a large contingent of fans that have been adamant that Stingley would not play this year and are desperate to be proven right and will latch on to any crumb.

Its sad.
Those fans said Stingley would never player another game starting in August of 2020. Since then, Stingley has played in 10 of 13 games. Those fans are desperate for Stingley to break a leg and have to miss games so they can be “right”

Social media has created tribal culture where people cheer agaisnt their own best interests to simply be right

What is this? Why the hell do you actively hate him? Over an entire season he was the highest CB ever, and that makes you quickly respond “WHAT ABOUT THE BAD GAME???!!”

Seriously what the frick is wrong with some of yall? Why are you fans?

That’s not necessarily true at all. There are many recruits that choose what school they sign to because they have been a fan their entire life. Also a lot of instances where kids play their hardest and make it a goal of theirs/use it as motivation to keep getting better and always giving it their all bc they want to sign at the school they have grown up watching and have loved/been a fan of since they could remember….

I thought Stingley was overhyped until that Florida game in 2019. He was awesome.

Guess who he was on that whole game.. Kyle Pitts (the #4 pick in last years draft).

That's why stingley will be a top 5 pick. He was doing stuff like that as a freshman & has only gotten better.

Our “fans” say Stingley was terrible last season. He gave up ONLY ONE COMPLETION OVER 20 YARDS all season. ONE. And it was the one handed circus catch by smith

Yes. Even with the Bama game he was still rated the highest.

Which should tell you how dominant he was the rest of the games.

His ability to change directions and his hip fluidity is unmatched in CFB. That trait is why he's going top 5 next draft. Having plus speed and hands is a bonus.

That might be the case for, perhaps, mid-tier D-1 prospects who have somewhat limited offers. That's not the case for most of the big time prospects. Before they even think about which college to attend they have their eyes set on the NFL. And there is nothing wrong with that as many come from families with little means and almost NONE come from families with the millions in wealth they can earn in the NFL. It's why you might see a big time player from Texas who grew up predominantly watching Texas games decide to go to Ohio St or Alabama because he feels they give him the best and quickest path to the NFL. And it's not just in football. Many of the 5 star players choose the school that they feel is best for THEIR prospects of getting to the professional ranks and are only there for that purposes...with no overall love for the university.

Hell, just a few years ago Trendon Watford, a 5 star player out of Alabama, who was on the LSU basketball team was interviewed about the upcoming LSU/Alabama football game. He said in the interview he was an "Alabama football fan" and essentially said he was rooting for Alabama in the game because that's where he grew up...even though he was currently a student at LSU!!!

Nothing against the kid, but 2 years in a row want play against that offense. Might be a good business decision not to lose your draft spot by them exposing anything.
