How did we go from Stingley being questionable to opting out?

Read on here last night that he’s questionable for Saturday. Get on this morning and everyone is certain he’s opting out and we’ve seen the last of him. What’s the deal?

Id love to be proven wrong but this is playing out just as many of us predicted last summer. Doesn't help when your daddy goes on the radio to admonish fans and threatens to opt out.

This is the only mention ive seen of him opting out.

Obviously I know what the speculation was before the season, but I havent seen anything specificaly today saying hes opting out...

Because a certain segment of the fanbase doesn’t like when a certain segment of players miss time or games, they think it may adversely affect O.

The guy gets injured every 20 min it feels like. I think people are just tired of the hype and after how he quit last year assume he will again to get ready for the draft. If you search his name on Twitter it’s just a bunch of NFL fans arguing over who gets to draft him next year.

I’ll take Ricks all day.

Seems reasonable that he would opt out. If your kid has the opportunity to be financially set for life, and all he basically has to do is not get hurt between now and draft day, seems like removing the threat of getting hurt is probably the smart decision. Why risk further injury when he can use the time to let the foot heal?

Agreed. Sting Sr. comes off as helicopter dad whether he intends to or not. He runs all of his NIL stuff, has a regular appearance on local radio, and goes to practice all the time. He needs to take a page out of the Archie Manning dad guide and be more hands off.

It's all talk. Think about it - he's number 7. nobody puts on #7 for 2 games & then doesn't play ros. He'll be back, hopefully for Auburn. Definitely for Florida.

There's a lot of smoke that he could be out a "few" weeks. Pair that with he didn't practice all of fall camp because of an injury. Getting ready for the draft. Say LSU loses this weekend then what's he playing for?

Yeah the fans on this board didn't do anything to warrant that.

Stingley Sr loves the attention he gets and doesn’t care how it affects his son. Problem for him is this is where it stops. NFL coaches aren’t going to tolerate him. I also guarantee no matter what JR says he wishes his dad would just STFU. No 21 yr old athlete wants his daddy going around talking for him.

This may be a dumb question but honestly what sort of draft grade would we have at this point if he were to opt out? The talent is unquestionable but durability is clearly an issue and he’d be getting evaluated primarily off of what he did 2 years ago

Sr has decided that a band showing will hurt his current draft stock. He is at a first round level now but a few bad showings and he may drop……
