Do you think term limits for Congress would actually help our situation?

I find myself torn on this. On one hand, career politicians have proven that they only care about and look out for themselves. On the other hand, there are so many off kilter, woke idiots in the world that I'm not sure if having new blood in congress would actually help.

No...getting elected to Congress takes mega $$$$$ and the DNC/RNC is only giving $$$ to those that follow their narrative.

Absolutely. It would take a tremendous amount of bad money out of the process.

Didn't help in Louisiana in large due legislators finally know how to get things done when their term limits are up. Legislative aides did and many took lobbyists jobs to write legislation instead of legislators

Yea but not the silver bullet….. We need campaign finance reform and a law protecting people’s jobs, salaries, benefits, etc. if they run for office. Many good people are blocked out of the process because they can’t afford to lose their jobs.

No. There’s an old saying that goes something like “what good is getting rid of the tyrant if you don’t get rid of the tyranny?”

Yes......... two things that would help tremendously: (1) term limits, (2) whatever they vote for applies to them as well (no exemptions).

What I believe is Congress should return to a brief Meeting like maybe once a quarter, then they return to their home districts and back to their "Day Jobs" in the private sector. That, along with term limits would cure a lot of what is wrong with our government. Congress has become way too powerful, with career politicians more concerned about their Party, then the people and the Constitution.

Agreed. It effectively gives less power to the legislature and more to others including civil service employees and lobbyist who know how to play the game.
The real answer, and the hard one, is to recruit, elect and retain men and women with brains, compassion and integrity.

I lean towards term limits but I'm also weary because it doesn't seem like quality people run for government offices. Right now we're in this slow drag to destruction. Term limits might help the crazy left speed up their agenda.
No one over the age of 70 should be in a federal office though. That should be a law. State government sure if the folks want to keep voting for you to do that and your state allows it. You are no longer in touch with the modern world at that point in life.

True campaign finance reform is what's needed. But the Citizens United ruling essentially blocked that from ever happening. We would need a constitutional amendment but there's no way that happens.

Elected Representatives are a reflection of the electoral populous; like they say..."you can't legislate morality". Can't legislate Vision either. Well...not directly or in a timely manner. The Left has 'legislated' Vision as they have taken over Academia for decades, and now their Ideological (Marxist Egalitarian Authoritarian) is bearing fruit.
It's a "The Fourth Turning" scenario. Everything is cyclical. We'll ride it out, and if the historical record remains accurate and exists, we'll learn an put that knowledge to use. Or it could be that 'Evil' is a real and absolute Power; and that in this particular evolutionary paradigm, it's as influential as it's Opposite (Love/Universal Unity).
Big stuff for us; little stuff in the Big Picture.

Only if lobbying is ousted in conjunction with applying term limits.
But it will never happen because a Convention of the States would need to be called, and we don’t have enough states with leadership willing to do a damn thing about anything.

No.
Term limits for everyone in government.
Every employee, contractor, consultant, official.

No. A better solution is for us to be engaged in the process and vote out pieces of shite.
Roy Blunt has been a Missouri Senator for multiple terms. He’s a self-interested bastard. He should’ve never been elected in the first place.

Nobody should be a career politician.

It would help. Another large part of the current situation, at least as far as government officials go, is number of people holding these high up bureaucratic and intelligence positions that aren’t elected.

I think making it randomly selectees like jury duty would help the situation. Let them get selected randomly and spend 4 years in the house or 8 in the senate and be done.
