I have gotten where chewable antacids are hit or miss . Pepcid was effective but seems to have stopped working for some reason. I’ve had people recommend Prilosec so I picked up a bottle yesterday but noticed the bottle says not to take for longer than 14 days straight. I thought you could take this year round…

Dexilant. I have tried every single one and it's by far the most effective.

I use to get this every night almost regardless of what I ate...I started drinking at least a gallon of water everyday and cut my food portions and now I'm down to once a month. I was on a daily regiment of nexium and if I ever forgot it, it was a nightmare

I have to avoid peppermint.

I generally take Pepcid if I get really uncomfortable, but I keep a PPI in my travel bag. I think it’s pantaprozole.

ETA- I always take a chewable first.

Year round with a prescription.
Over the counter they are only allowed to sell a 14-day course.

I still wouldn't recommend staying on proton pump inhibitors (prilosec/nexium/prevacid/protonix) for the long term though. The root cause problem is typically weak acid, prompting your body to produce more. PPI drugs prevent your body from producing more, relieving the symptoms, but causing other gut problems due to incompletely undigested foods. It may sound counter-intuitive initially, but you might want to try taking apple cider vinegar, which can help restore your stomach acidity to proper levels, fixing the systemic problem.

ive been on prescription strength Omeprazole for years. Once daily, can't miss a day. Game changer.

Get on the scrip, its cheaper and far more effective than the same drug over the counter.

Go see a gastro and he will prescribe you a daily protonix. This will allow you to live as normal.

Don’t kick the can on the issue bc you’ll regret it down the road.

I also have 100% stopped having heartburn problems since going low-carb. Used to have a prescription for Protonix though I stopped taking it even before going low-carb.

Felt pretty bad heartburn for the first time in a while this past week since "cheating" on my lowcarb diet thanks to Hurricane Ida circumstances.

Omeprazole and I’ve taken it for months. But once I cut back alcohol and poor diet, I no longer needed it.

I have no problem going low carb, except booze. Once I have a drink or two, heartburn city.

For some reason I always wake up with it in the morning. But I usually take store brand Famotidine and it works. It used to be way worse. I lost like 80 pounds and didn't have it at all for almost two years. gained a little back and I get it occasionally.
