I’m all for bringing in a new staff, but they better have someone in fricking mind. A lot of programs will fire a coach and not have a backup plan in place.

Our football program deserves the best of the best. We need a proven head coach and some proven coordinators.

There's a successful coach Woodward hired at Washington that's currently doing commentary for Fox Sports . . .

Absolutely. I agree totally. Doesn’t change the fact that he was just along for the ride and anyone that’s being honest knew that.

I didn't want him as a head coach, but he did an excellent job recruiting a lot of great talent, so his success in recruiting was one of the big reasons we won it all that year (along with Brady, etc.).

There’s one he hired at Aggy that’s kicked our arse 2/3 times and he can’t get anyone better to Baton Rouge. LSU football is done for a decade unless he can get Meyer

Maybe. Maybe not. What I do know is that Woodward can pick up the phone today and gauge his interest.

I'm not going to say that. But meyer is the only one that gives you INSTANT success. Based on QB coaching and schematics. Even more so than saban, jimbo, and Petersen level guys.

Hire Steve E as interim head coach; get the program on track mentally; present a respectable approach that current and future players can buy into; and begin the coaching search now. Sorry O, you have to go.

I think this would be the best approach. Coach E knows a lot of these guys, has no ego and is 100% for LSU.

Just remember this, Peterson did not have to leave Washington. The job was his and still would be if things went south. He has other concerns from what I understand that figures into all of this.

I'll take the contrarian view and say that he's largely been overrated as a recruiter. His biggest accomplishments turn out to be driven largely by other factors.

Completely agree. He also gets credit for the worst season put up by a defending champion in over a half-century.

He also gets credit for being the first LSU coach to lose as a favorite in back to back season openers since the 1980s.

He also gets credit for losing to Troy because of fighting with his hand-picked offensive coordinator who he didn’t personally meet before hiring.

He also gets credit for the worst margin of defeat to State (2017) and Auburn (2020).

He also gets credit for paying $10+ million in buyouts to failed coordinator hires (Canada, Pelini, and Linehan).

He also gets credit for giving up the most passing yards in the 80+ year history of the SEC (state 2020).

Don’t get me wrong, I’ll trade it all for 2019. But when you look at O’s entire track record the lows are some of the worst in program and conference history.
