So I don’t know their exact restrictions are but when we were in LA this past weekend there basically were zero in actuality. We saw people masking outside and inside but we never got harassed to wear one ever. We never got asked for a vaccine card even at the rose bowl. We never saw a single facility that limited its capacity. Basically Covid didn’t exist if you didn’t want it to. In effect all masking was at the choice of the individual.

Blew our minds. Compared with New Orleans which actually has been a pain in the arse about it and we have had people actually enforce these rules on us recently it was like being in a bizarro world where California felt more free than south Louisiana. If we watched the news though all you’d hear about is how great Californians are at handling and treating Covid with respect and Louisiana is a bunch of heathens who don’t care about anybody.

Anybody have a similar experience?

shite, most of the people I saw outside had on masks.

The Rose Bowl was the only non mask oasis.

I haven’t been to CA since Covid first hit, but from what I can gather on certain forums that are Covid related, highly vaccinated areas are fed up with Covid restrictions. They feel they did their part and want to be left alone.

The progressive restaurant owners in NOLA view the people of Louisiana as more likely to be “anti-vax rednecks” (not my words) than a Los Angeles resident.

Just a guess , I could be way off.

We were required to show our vaccination cards and ID at a few restaurants.

Keep your mask handy. You can put it over your eyes when you watch the Tigers play next time. From what I witnessed, you’re gonna need it.

Wait, so you mean the Facebook narratives circling around your network are exaggerations?

You’d be surprised at reality vs news reports. I was in Philly this weekend where they have the vaccine passport and mask mandates. Not one place I went to made me do either.

I felt exactly as you described in the liberal Mecca of chicago a few weeks ago. People looked at me like a fool when I walked into restaurants/coffee shops wearing a mask. Chicago more free than Nola… who woulda thought?

There is a recall election partly over how Newsome handled Covid or else they would have the whole state shut down again.

There wasn’t a mask in site at Barney’s Saturday afternoon standing arse to dick

ETA:

I checked my 10 month olds stroller at gate C and somehow ended up in the UCLA student section line surronded by rowdy drunk students all high giving my kid in his #18 LSU jersey. Wife looked at me and said ‘it will be a miracle if he doesn’t catch covid’

Was in San Diego before and after the game. No masks worn anywhere.
Vaccine status never checked at Rose Bowl.

I've been in Chicago and New York in recent weeks, and both were far more lax about it than I think most here probably think it is, especially compared to early on in the pandemic when I visited both cities. The restrictions were definitely more in the guideline bucket than in the actual, enforced restriction bucket.

I’ve been traveling to most of the liberal Mecca’s on the regular since January. With the exception of Brooklyn, nothing is like the narrative you see on the news.

Hell, even Brooklynites were pretty loose after a few drinks.

This all clearly shows the Twitter and Facebook algorithms are working.
They both have successfully distorted reality into making you, the consumer, believe that masks are the norm and smart people wear them all the time.
Even the CNNs, etc are working too, when all they'll show are their "journalists" out in the field with masks on.

New Orleans is one of the most restricted places covid-wise in the US. One only has to venture one state over to the east, west, or north to understand this.

The progressive liberals that have migrated to the city post-Katrina have turned the place into Portland South, politically. Couple that with the old ignorance and corruption of the city under the rule of a transplant like Cantrell and you have a very stifled social environment.
