Trying to help a friend ..

No kids so schools aren't an issue
Couple in their young 20s
She'll work from home
He'll work in Houston off of hwy 6 south of I10

Thanks for any suggestions -- they're looking for either a home rental or something with a small yard. Not quite sure of their budget.

Shoot, I’d live in City Center (I10 & BW8) and commute the opposite way to I10 & SH6.

I wouldn’t move to Katy until kids are in the picture.

I lived in Montrose (no homo) with my gf until we got married . Then moved to Katy when we were expecting.

MHO.

Inside the loop for that age and no kids.

ETA: is there a specific reason they are looking at Katy? Kids in the future? For a young couple it doesn't seem like a fun place. I lived in Bellaire and near Greenway Plaza at that age and loved it.

If I was in their situation I would purchase some property far outside town. I don’t know why they would choose suburbia if his job is already outside the loops.

Cinco Ranch is still pretty nice area. Home prices are still elevated though. And your baws commute wouldn’t be bad at all

We lived in cane island for a year before I transferred out of state. We loved it. Easy access to I-10

Inner loop vote. Wait until the last second if you absolutely must run to the burbs.

We lived in Cinco Ranch before moving back here. Lots of amenities, but the HOA is horrible.

Katy without kids doesn't make a lot of sense. Given his work location I agree with City Centre. A lot more for young people to do there.

Look at bridgeland… it will develop into a woodlands like environment.. massive and options from cottages, duplexes , single family, and very rich… tons of stuff like pools.bike paths , lakes … good place to rent buy or buy

Generally as you come toward highway 6 from the outer loop you would tend to choose areas south… tons of places… Fry road ish

Have lived here overs thirty years and in the Fry road area… we have every price range you can imagine … from apartments to multimillion houses…

Golf course community…lake..gated … entry level

I would suggest he rent in one of the newer apartment complexes close to his office for a year and explore the area before getting a house etc… tons of new apartments out here also…many very very nice and large complexes

no kids then no reason to live outside 99 or the Beltway for that matter

based on your description and since they would be renting I would recommend a Condo or Townhouse somewhere in the block bordered by I-10 to the North, 610 to the East, Westpark Tollway to the South and Beltway 8 to the West.

Namely something off of Hillcroft/Voss Rd

easy for him to get to work, easy for her to get to anything, close enough to everything but not as expensive as some of the areas mentioned

No Kids? Just don’t live in the Hood.

Kids? Don’t be in HISD (Not in Hood will happen naturally)
