It takes 6 hours* to enact contraflow. It's insane that they didn't do it.

*From an off duty LSP ranting About it at the hardware store. The roads and signs are there. They just need to set it up.

Could you imagine the flip out if Latoya started telling other Parish leaders to use their resources to help evacuate Louisiana.
it makes sense. We don’t have a Louisiana without New Orleans

It’s the same with Baton Rouge and drainage issues. The bayous, canals, etc all through BR have been clogged up with trees and trash for decades. But yet, 2016 comes through and devastates the area and still, 6 years later, the bayous, canals, etc are full of trees/trash.

I’m not taking up for teedy but Cynthia in Jefferson just said the same thing. There wasn’t enough time to coordinate with other states and make it run smoothly

This is a BS excuse. This isn’t like a tornado that pops up suddenly without much warning.

They’ve been tracking this storm for over a week.

With the long history of hurricanes on the gulf coast, not having enough time should NEVER be an excuse.

The reason there isn’t enough time is because the idiots in charge at the local AND state level sat on their asses doing nothing but jacking off to Covid fear porn.

People who are dumb enough to think that Cantrell has any authority on a statewide protocol.

If you actually listened to the press conference that is being twisted, she flat out said the Governor made that call. She just said that if contraflow wasn’t available, she couldn’t order a mandatory evacuation….which is the smart call.

my housemate asked the same question.

I saw the mayor of New Orleans say it was too late.
the team of dot and highway patrol need to look at how to improve their response.

Maybe people should learn to make good decisions for themselves instead of waiting for the govt to tell them what to do and help them do it.

Just saying...

Did the shortage of police play a role in her decision?

1. 110 begins cat3. you go ahead and define CLOSE to 110.
I would not bet real money against 105.
2. cat4 starts at 130.
the levees will make it this time.

What if you wanted to go East?

We all know public officials are about reasoned and balance approaches to complex problems.

We know that they would never insist on making some sacrifice for the benefit of doing things the “right” way.

How could they ever insist that going East (or West) was an only option?

Too complex
Too many unintended consequences

Teedy just said she asked for Contraflow and was denied.

She literally said "People be asking 'Teedy, where tha contraflow'"

Honest answer. JBE fricked up.

People say they're wasn't time. It only takes a few hours to set it up.
