The new analysis relies on the database of Maccabi Healthcare Services, which enrolls about 2.5 million Israelis. The study, led by Tal Patalon and Sivan Gazit at KSM, the system’s research and innovation arm, found in two analyses that people who were vaccinated in January and February were, in June, July, and the first half of August, six to 13 times more likely to get infected than unvaccinated people who were previously infected with the coronavirus. In one analysis, comparing more than 32,000 people in the health system, the risk of developing symptomatic COVID-19 was 27 times higher among the vaccinated, and the risk of hospitalization eight times higher.

"Conspiracy theory! Stop sharing harmful disinformation! If you already had covid, you need to get vaccinated. You don't have the right to infect the vaccinated!"

what we need to know are the stats for those that were:
1) % Infected that were unvaccinated
2) Previously infected and now also vaccinated.

Would that be important to know all the facts and not selected ones? All this tells us is that those that survived have natural immunity which makes sense.

I can’t believe people are still arguing this. This is just as bad as when everyone got in a frenzy about wearing masks outside a few months ago. So dumb

From your article

The researchers also found that people who had SARS-CoV-2 previously and then received one dose of the Pfizer-BioNTech messenger RNA (mRNA) vaccine were more highly protected against reinfection than those who once had the virus and were still unvaccinated.

Sounds like they cherry picked the data

“The differences are huge,” says Thålin, although she cautions that the numbers for infections and other events analyzed for the comparisons were “small.” For instance, the higher hospitalization rate in the 32,000-person analysis was based on just eight hospitalizations in a vaccinated group and one in a previously infected group. And the 13-fold increased risk of infection in the same analysis was based on just 238 infections in the vaccinated population, less than 1.5% of the more than 16,000 people, versus 19 reinfections among a similar number of people who once had SARS-CoV-2.

It is not a surprise that natural immunity is superior to vaccinated immunity. But certainly vaccinated immunity is vastly superior in COVID prevention to not being vaccinated at all, and there is nothing in this study to dispute this point. One of the problems here is with odds for rare events. If vaccinated people have a breakthrough Covid case, say, 0.000008 percent of the time and those with natural immunities have a breakthrough case 0.000001 percent of the time, it is true that vaccinated people are eight times more likely to become infected with COVID than those previously infected with COVID. But this is based on such small probabilities that one cannot draw a conclusion that being vaccinated poses a serious level of danger. In this study the authors find that a very rare event (i.e., having a breakthrough case after being vaccinated) is more likely to occur than another very rare event (i.e., having a breakthrough case after being infected with COVID and developing natural immunity). But both of these rare events occurs with much, much less frequency than being unvaccinated and becoming infected with COVID.

People think masks and lockdowns work

Despite them categorically not working anywhere many times

Mental illness is a big problem

Something tells me the government knows this . They don’t want the China flu to go away , because like I’ve said they are in the cusp of total power . All they need to do is steal one more election and it’s over ! COVID provides them that opportunity. Something not discussed is anyone who has gotten COVID who did not get vaxed , did they catch it again? I haven’t seen any news on people who have gotten COVID who didn’t get vaxed get it a second time .

What is your point?

The unvaccinated are 15 to 20 times more likely to die than the vaxxed.

My best case scenario is get the vaccine and then catch a cold and be protected from delta as well.

That's a better plan than get delta and have a 15 to 20 times the chance of dying to end up at the same point I'm at.

People get the flu shot and still get the flu.

People don’t get the flu shot and still get the flu.

People have had the flu several times in their life and still get the flu.

People have had the flu get a flu shot and still get the flu.

I mean…

I suspect that a natural covid infection and recovery is apt to produce a wider spectrum immune response because the viruses are not all perfectly identical and then too there may be more elements the immune system keys on than just the protein spike alone.

Pfizer, Moderna and J&J create identical covid protein spikes to trigger the immune response. Such uniformity may result in a narrower spectrum of immunity.

Novavax will be a traditional vaccine that grows a batch of covid virus, kills it and then extracts the spike protein. It may create a broader spectrum of immunity as a result.

But don’t forget that most of the hospitalizations in this country are coming from unvaccinated people. Most never had Covid and are still the highest risk. Surviving Covid gives you antibodies, but the vaccine helps those that didn’t get it.
