Anyone know how HWY 90W is from the Huey P into Lafayette right now?
DOTD site says all green but skeptical

So it looks like by 8am tomorrow, much of the southeast LA coast will see tropical storm force winds.
People thinking about leaving need to make that decision now.

So there’s no way it gets steered west to the basin right?
Highly unlikely. Ya'll might have to cut a little down rice if he has any left to cut.

I grew up on the gulf coast, and I don’t recall ever seeing these gulf storms track west of the predicted path. Maybe some of y’all remember a case like that but I sure don’t.
Looks like the Basin is on the west end of the projections, but still close enough where I wouldn’t chance it.

That's how I feel. This is the Graphic they posted with it, which I've seen before
LINK but I thought that was like "hey.. this is not out of the realm of possibility but not likely" so it's surprising to me to see NWS use it in such decided terms.
It’s not abnormal for a local NWS office to have slight differences in their forecasts from national offices like NHC or SPC. I’ve seen NWS Birmingham have differences in severe weather forecasts from what SPC says many times. The local offices are able to focus on a much more localized area.

If they start getting hurricane strength winds north of BR then the River Bend power plant shuts down it’s reactor. Highly likely the NOLA reactor will/would be shut down as well. So while power is distributed along the grid, both major the metropolitan areas and for that matter all of SE LA will be needing to draw in outside power.
Being able to keep their reactor running while NOLA shuts theirs down would certainly give Baton Rouge an edge in the war.

I don’t think so but someone mentioned so figured I’d ask. I’m good with our chances now.
It would be 60 acres at most. Just let water off so ...

Sounds about right.

She has already failed.
I haven’t been following as much as normal. Did she wait entirely to late to order evacuations?

that is coming from the national weather service? I cannot figure out a reason not to trust them but also don't understand the big discrepancy between them and NOAA
Maybe they mixed up wind gusts with sustained winds? Or it’s old information.

I feel for anyone in this path and hope you guys stay safe down there.
Some of my family in WNC are still dealing with catastrophic flooding Fred just caused and the tail end of this thing is going to bring even more rain to the mountains by midweek with more flooding.
The real issues for them are all the landslides caused by the rain. Houses sliding down the mountain into the river to a different county.
Stay safe

I brought my family from NO to BR. Thinking about going back home to board up a few windows then come back to BR.
Anyone know if people can still travel to NO and if it will be shutdown at some point?
Thanks
