If there is any good news out of this it’s that Ida continues to move fast at 16 mph, right?

Wait until you start seeing the reports on tv and seeing places in the background that you’re familiar with being destroyed by CAT4 winds.

Seeing the partial (barely) twin spans from Katrina on the news was still one of the most ominous feelings that there wasn't much left of my home.

Word from the ground from MSY: they expect no flights tomorrow no matter how early. Many airlines will clear the inventory on site overnight. If you were hoping on it, best bet is to try to hop in on standby, but earlier rather than later.

Had a flight back to MSY scheduled to arrive at 10:45 tonight. Got a text that it was canceled. Now flying into Houston and having to drive the rest of the way to get back to BR. Will leave car in MSY garage a few more days…..

Just reporting that I-10 from Beaumont to the state line is flowing good. Little more volume than usual for a Saturday morning but not bad at all.

Move to this page so people evacuating can see it.

If Cat 2 winds come over Baton Rouge expect some of those trees to possible come down especially with how saturated the ground is already.

Thanks. Husband and FIL were supposed to get the one taken down that is closest to the house after the ice storm since a huge branch broke off but life happens and here we are with a cat 4 coming at us.

What is the issue with carbon monoxide in a situation like this? Won't put the generator too near the house.

Eastbound is a ghost town. I was talking westbound. You should be able to head East as fast as you can go.

Don't forget to watch where your neighbors place theirs.

We had an instance where the neighbplaced his on the east side of his house not far from my bedroom window unit. Had to go ask him to move it.

Don’t put it next to an AC, open window, or in your garage.

Family died in Lake Charles last year by having it in their garage and the door to garage cracked.

I have a 25’ long cord for mine. I plan on placing it under the carport (which is completely open on two sides) as far as the cord will allow if it’s raining. Due to the angle to the main panel, that would place it probably 15’ from the house. I’m thinking that should be good since it’s so wide open on two sides and the carbon monoxide should be able to vent properly. If it’s not raining, I’ll put it out in the yard.

We have a carbon monoxide detector with brand new batteries that we’ll be using too, just in case.

Is it better to put the detector high or low? I really don’t know.
