I rode out Betsy in Thibodaux as a 15 month old with a 3 month old Brother, each under my Mother's arm in bed while the house literally came apart. I have heard stories my whole life of what it sounded like that night. This will be another one.

have an Aunt and Uncle still in Houma. They are staying because they have a lot of shrimp in the freezer.

Or they could, you know, load up some shrimp with ice in a cooler and not ride out a cat 4 hurricane.

So how bad is this going to get by the Amite River, and how bad is traffic to Houston gonna be?

who here is staying and who here is leaving BR

I don’t know anyone leaving BR. Home generator here so we’re staying. Without that I’d probably leave due to two small children in the house. No way I’m dealing with an infant with no power for a week.

I know a Houma baw who is sending his family to Arkansas tomorrow but he’s riding it out.

I don't know, but a substantial amount of rain could fall with onshore flow. It's hard to say where exactly will get the big freshwater flooding, but it's a good bet it'll happen somewhere east of the track.

I would consider trying to build a jet pack.

In laws here from Mississippi Coast.
They said, and I'm paraphrasing, screw being without power for two weeks. We'll just stay right here (our house).

3 days of heavy southerly winds and storm surge will bring the water up even without rain. Watch for the rainfall in BR. 6" of rain and you will then be at flood stage 8 days from now.

This really applies to the lower Amite.

Man the model flip flopping will be like a roller coaster of emotions for people in Houma, Morgan City, Lafayette, etc.

But that's the difference in you getting walloped and taking a hit but managing.

The HWRF run was interesting.
