Trying to kick the habit. I’m calm but I feel like inside I’m full of rage, cravings, any words or encouragement or advice of what I can do to control the urges or do I just need to weather the storm?

Update: 9/15 last cig, nicotine pouches, dip, patches anything

It sucks a lot, so do Aggie football, I’m turning into a drunk

The little nicotine pouches that you “dip” helped me but kicking cigs is going to take time. Or you could just go get a pack of reds because you know you want it. Lol don’t do the second part, stick with it

wintergreen mints, the big bag, worked for me. Avoid the frick out of gas stations, youll save a lot of $$$ too. It will go away after about 10-14 days, depending on your usage. I went a good time then wanted one, complete mistake. I am going to message my primary for a chantix script this week.

Yep

cravings,

they will reduce, enjoy them as your "stimulant" and the success of another few days.

Last but not least, AVOID ALL CONVEINECE STORES, pay at the pump, dont get a snack, and dont look at the "powerwall" if you do go in, its there to get you.

Don’t think of it as No Cigs. Think of it as not being Trashy. Congrats. Will it be 4 days of not being trashy or will you be back in the trailer park? Your call

Day 3 is Easy,
Day whatever is easy.
It’s day all the shite goes goes wrong and someone has a smoke That’s hard.

With ANYTHING, it’s when you have it available, and at no cost to you, when shite gets hard.

It’s when you’ve had the shittiest day ever, and the bottle is open And willing beside you, and nobody would know..:

THAT’s when you know whether you kicked it or not.

Cinnamon sticks help with the cravings and it you get the kind that are in a jar for cooking, you can hold them as if it were a cigarette and go through the motions of smoking while not get any of the dangerous chemicals. It helps until the cravings pass. I ordered some from Amazon.

I quit after 40 years using Chantix. Had almost no withdrawal symptoms.

I quit a little over a year ago. I still chew nicotine gum, because I think nicotine does have some benefits.

The first three weeks were the roughest. It's pretty smooth sailing now. I rarely crave a cigarette, and when I smell someone smoking, it smells God awful.

Exercise hard. I also ate something really spicy to get a good endorphin rush when a bad craving hit.

I finally got on Wellbutrin, it made quitting a cakewalk.

Day 3 - No Cigs

I'm on month 15 of not smoking after almost 40 years of smoking anywhere between 1-2 packs a day. Unfortunately I can't give any advice because I had to quit because of necessity, I had a stroke and if I resumed smoking it would guarantee that I would have another one.

I can say it gets a little easier with time but there are still occasions where I get to wanting one pretty bad. For example, one of the worse things I can do is eat while driving my car because it combines two of the most common times I would light up, after a meal and while driving.

Good luck to you, it takes a lot of willpower but you will feel better if you can keep it up. I know I don't miss that smokers cough I had, it's gone and I'm glad of it. The money you'll save don't hurt either

Getting to Day 3 is pretty damn good, for me Day 1 & 2 were hell but after Day 5 it got progressively a bit easier every day.

Danger zone around Day 60 when I think I have it licked and one or two cigarettes won't hurt. They do and I was right back at it until I finally quit.

Nicotine gum works but you'll be addicted to it and it's expensive. Try to go without but if you feel an overwhelming urge to buy a pack, get the gum first. The mint flavors are far better than the original non flavored gum which is awful.

Freedom from cigarettes is true freedom in so many ways. No having to run outside after a restaurant meal to get that nicotine hit. Car / Truck no longer stinks. Long airplane rides. The list goes on.

Being a former smoker is the best move you'll ever make for long term physical health.

Good luck.

You are almost completely past the physical addiction portion.

Now you need to change up your routines because the habit portion is up next. After a week or 2 it's easy and after a month you should be fine.

First week is the hardest due to physical withdrawal. If you make it past day four you ARE in the clear, I promise. It’s all mental after that. Quit dipping several years ago after a 12 year can a day habit. While I miss it, I don’t miss being a slave to nicotine. Trust me, it’s worth quitting!
