I’ve heard arguments for and against, so wanted to ask the question directly and get tRant on the record as to how they think this proposed SEC expansion will impact LSU. What say you?

It will hurt in the sense that it will make Texas a much more formidable force in recruiting. It will impair our ability to scoop up some of the best players from Texas.

The positive side - $$$$$

I'm on the fence. Adding Texas and OU is great exposure, money and recruiting.

However, with them in conference, it just adds to the toughness of getting thru it to the championship.

The teams in SEC beat up on each other and then you will have good teams from weaker conferences sneaking into the top spots in the polls.

Easier for Ohio State and Clemson to garner top spot. They won't have to go thru a gauntlet of Bama, Texas, OU, Florida, Georgia, or Auburn

LA base USC and UCLA will be in there to. Because the media market wants it.

LSU could be be light years ahead of Ohio State in strength , but 2 losses to say Bama and Texas and they are on outside looking in.

Doesn't seem right until they fix the selection process and polls

Won’t help our recruiting situation in Texas. That’s for sure.

Who knows if it helps or hurts recruiting, path to playoffs , rivalries, etc. That stuff is all secondary to being part of THE MEGACONFERENCE. Think about all the other conferences. Everyone in the Big 10 not named Ohio State, Michigan, or Penn State will wish to God they could be friggin’ Vanderbilt, for God’s sake. The SEC will control college football for the foreseeable future, and LSU doesn’t have to worry about being left behind - unlike every team in the Big 12, PAC 12, ACC, etc. That means everything.

All in all it probably helps. With no undefeated Oklahoma rolling into the playoffs for their annual beat down there's a spot open for a second SEC team. It's a very slight negative to recruiting but Orgeron will never have any problem pulling in elite talent to LSU.

And all those old rivalries aren't going away, they'll just be biennial going forward. That's not my preference but I can live with it.

I'd still vote no if I had a vote. Mostly because of how humiliating it would be for Texas.

I think it's fantastic from a monetary standpoint for the university & the conference. I also love it from a fan standpoint with quality opponents joining the league.

LSU would definitely benefit if a 12 team playoff comes to fruition.

I think it will hurt in recruiting with another big time program in the state next door that will try and get their hands on LA recruits. It makes it to where LSU can’t have a couple down years in a row or else they could really fall behind. The only teams it helps is UT and OU, especially UT as they were on their way to irrelevancy

I don’t really see how it’ll impact recruiting much. We’ll still land most of the top in state kids with bama the biggest threat. If anything that kid who gets overlooked or doesn’t get a commitable offer ends up with one of them versus say Miss state or Arkansas

We’ll still always be in the mix for Texas kids in our sweet spots. Maybe this’ll shore up things for them a little

Think it is upside, but I really do not expect it to end with two. More to come, so I will wait till the dust settles.

Everyone assumes this means more money - but how much are we actually looking at? Not worth saving Texas's sorry arse for 2 or 3 million per year.

Texas has ruined every conference they’ve ever been in so no it doesn’t help us or anyone else in the SEC. Texas is a cancer

Money: helps

Excitement: hurts
Strength of schedule: hurts
National relevance now that we won’t be the team every one expects to give Bama their toughest test: big hurt
Recruiting: hurts really bad
Losing biggest and best games every year: astronomical hurt

I see no upside to this move as it is EXCEPT for the program to make a lot of money which is obviously their man concern.

As a product, it ONLY has upside if SEC is leaving the NCAA.

Not playing Bama every year is bad for LSU. You’re either a pussy, a dumbass, or a combination of both if you think otherwise. You don’t “happily” take the #1 team off your schedule. Arguably the biggest game in the nation every year. It gives us publicity. National recognition. A competitive goal to achieve. Think of all the fringe schools that would kill to get a home and home with Bama for national attention. And here a bunch of you idiots want to get rid of that game so we can be in a pod with Ole Miss. give me a break.

To the idiots that are thinking that way. You’re dead wrong. It makes LSU no better than UCF by dodging big games. And we’ll be a lot like UCF (left out) come playoff time if this really is the decision

The biggest negative is that the SEC is losing its identity. LSU is going to be LSU no matter who is in the Conference but with so many new teams in the last 10 years the SEC is really not a Conference as we have known Conferences in the past. I really think that 14 was the absolute Maximum to retain the SEC Identity but with 16 teams it is really unmanageable.
