Dude has been posting suicidal stuff on his fb page all day. His most recent post was to ask if anyone would shoot him in the head for 10k. I really hope someone from LSU would reach out and try to help him. He seems to be in a very dark place in his life right now.

Praying for him. He mentioned in an interview with Mascona he had struggled with depression several years ago.

He’s been struggling with depression for years, even before coming to LSU. I remember an interview with him a couple years ago of him talking about it and how he used playing the guitar and music in general to escape. Guess he’s going through another rough time with it right now.

I didn’t realize he was now a musician here in Austin.

I hate to see a former Tiger hurting like this. I know we have people who post here who have means & access within the program and university to step up and put Joe in contact with the help that he needs. We’re pulling for you Joe

Depression is no joke. He had an article in ESPN awhile ago discussing his battle with it, really hope he makes it through. Can't imagine what he goes through on a daily basis.

Is he the player who challenged fans to meet him and fight after a game or was that someone else?

Depression is an evil disease. Praying someone close to him or someone with the Tiger staff will intervene.

Has anyone reported the tweets or called the authorities? I don’t have a Twitter and don’t usually condone getting in people’s business, but it seems like he needs to talk with someone badly. Hope he can get some help.

I don’t know if “reporting” the tweets is how it’s done- just hoping someone has reached out to him

This site usually has a lot of negativity but truly has had its moments of making the world better. I don't have twitter but it would be great if we could generate a bunch of tiger fans to show some support for him on twitter. Obviously, he need professional help regardless, but I'd love to see that.

He needs inpatient treatment now. Hopefully his loved ones can talk him into it.

I hate for anyone to have to deal with this and sincerely hopes he’s able to persevere in his struggle and improve his mental health.

But please stop with the speculation about football: plenty of people (myself included) have struggled with depression/anxiety/etc without playing serious collision football.

ETA:
quote:

How do you fix depression?

You don’t “fix” true clinical depression and related mental health issues. You try to mitigate it through a combination of different means: cognitive-behavioral therapy, exercise, medication, meditation, prayer, art, family… everyone is different and responds to different approaches.

I forwarded this thread to my friend in the AD.

They have a few counselors on staff. Hopefully someone will assist if they have not already…
