Yeah, everything else BUT the downtown skyline sucks about LA. It’s fine for a very large city, especially since no one works in those buildings.

Primanti Bros is indeed overrated, but there are some solid sandwich shops outside of it. I’m not referring to them when I say best sandwiches. Do Carson Street Deli. They make a hell of a sandwich.

I think it's mostly the lighting in that particular picture. There are some ugly buildings and some cool buildings like the Art Deco Standard Life building, completed in the 1920s.

There may be laws limiting the height of buildings in San Jose. Charleston has them.

There's no point in talking about the San Jose skyline, the Fort Worth skyline, etc.
Those are peripheral cities, not metropolitan centers. A fairer comparison might be to Arlington, VA or Sandy Springs, GA.
San Jose and Fort Worth still fall short of those places, but at least it's a more valid comparison.
