What was up with your weird suicide post on that other board?

I was driving a 72 beetle bug, stick shift, no AC and vinyl seats.

I remember it well as that was the summer before my freshman year at LSU. That’s the summer that some horses pulling carriages in the FQ in NOLA died of heat exhaustion and the city outlawed horses and replaced them with mules or donkeys (they apparently do much better in the heat).
I was in a Drum Corps based in Chalmette and we practiced every day that summer in the Schwegman’s parking lot on the asphalt. It was hotter than Hades!

The vinyl seats on the 79 Ford LTD "Landau" were brutal that summer.
Remember what those metal seat belt latches felt like? You could get third degree burns from those SOBs.

But the news said this current heatwave was unprecedented?
Meanwhile we're having the coolest summer I can remember in WI.

That shite happened in DFW in 2011. 103 consecutive days above 100. I was doing an internship in aerospace and had to walk half a mile every morning and afternoon to my parking spot from my office.

I was 8 and vaguely remember it. But seems there were a lot of 100+ degree days in the early 80's so I may be thinking of another year. I probably still played outside all day, every day regardless. But that might have been the summer the junior golf league was canceled. It was canceled one summer around that time, and I don't remember the reason.

I worked as a lifeguard that summer making about $3.50. My brother worked blowing insulation for a homebuilder making 25 cents an hour less. He still resents me over that summer.
My brother and I shared a 1963 Plymouth Belvedere around that time with no A/C. It had push button automatic transmission. I think my dad bought it used for $250.

Remember it not so fondly.
I bottomed out my car and got stuck in DUST on a rig road in Claiborne Parish. Walked 3/4 of mile and it was hot as blazes. Had to get the derrick hand to pull me out with a dozer. Bought ole boy a six pack as thanks.

Sucks for yall.
I played a 90 minute soccer game on Sunday and it's the coolest it's ever been in July.

We have had approx. 7 warm days.
We basically went from spring to fall.

I remember this one well. F’ing brutal.
Speaking of heat wave, I’m in the same area of Texas as the 100 days of 100 degrees, but we’ve broken 90 degrees less than 10 days this year and it’s the middle of July.
Record rainfall has obviously helped with that, but it’s about to be late July and there isn’t a day over 90 degrees forecasted through the end of the month. That is way more shocking than 100 days of 100.

I was 9 years old that summer and I remember it well. My aunt and uncle lived in Calhoun, La. at that time and we went up to spend a few weeks with them. They lived on a golf course and we would "sneak" on and play a few holes everyday.
I remember getting sick from chugging down too much cold water too quickly one day. Eventually, we started to wait until late afternoon to go out on the course because it was just so damn hot.
We also spent at least part of everyday at the clubhouse swimming pool just to get some relief. Hot as hell, but I have fond memories of that summer just hanging out and being a normal kid.
Also associate that summer with the Leonard vs. Duran 1 fight since it seemed to be in the news a lot during our time there.

Dusty Baker was your HS football coach?

Let's see...I was going from middle school to Jr High- and moving from a school that had no A/C to a school that had window units in every room.
Talk about like shittin' in high cotton, to a South Louisiana kid...

I used to fry doodle bugs and worms on the hot sidewalk pavement.
