Maine and New Hampshire offer both, although the winters are long

Driving in a beach town is a lot more fun and safer than mountain towns

estes park isn't a mountain town, it's a tourist trap.

Mountain.
Always take the high ground.

Yakutat AK is a cool place for surfing. Mt in the background is St. Elias, elevation 18,000

Beach. I have a short tolerance for the cold. I don’t think I would enjoy long stays in the mountains.

I'm considering moving there. I know home prices are high. Are you on the CA or NV side?

NC mountains cabin and then drive to the eastern NC coast of a Topsail Island beach house.

Gonna be traveling the southern end of that corridor in October on the way home to Pittsburgh.
It is absolutely gorgeous!

Mountain towns in Colorado are lonely in the winter and the winters in the mountains last a long time.
I just lived a winter in a town significantly smaller than Estes Park, and yeah there isn't much going on in town but there's stuff to do. Skiing, both alpine and cross country, snowshoeing, snowmobiling. Plenty to keep you entertained.
It's the fires that worry me.

I was going to say Shenandoah Valley then remembered the NC mountains.
I also have never been to the Ozark mountains what is it like?

I was considering a beach town for retirement on the Florida Gulf coast. For most of them I researched, a hurricane seems to erase them every 20-30 years.

Mountain unless the beach stays constantly 65 - 70 degrees.

I feel like only parts of the California coast can offer that
