You may be surprised at how seldom many of the local residents go to the beach.

I wouldn’t be. I’ve got three days in me to handle that much sand, sunscreen, and heat before I’m ready to leave.

Love the beach, but it’s in no way a forever home. I’d pick mountains, but I get depressed when winter is grey, cold, and dragging.

If I could I would live in Montana or Idaho tomorrow. Yes the winters kinda suck but the summers are just awesome… and great fishing….

My official answer is both. Mountains during the summer and beach during the winter

Take a down vote for lousy comprehension skills

The beach town you wouldn’t see the beach ever at all unless you got on the road that went right next to it. You wouldn’t even see the ocean unless you got real close.

So you’ve never seen condos or houses on the beach?

Now that I live near mountains(Lookout and Signal don't seem like mountains compared to the Cascades), I never want to live anywhere else.

Seeing snow capped mountains in the background never gets old.

Mountain women when they age:

Eh, they're all gonna be different. You prefer white and with dry skin, or bronzed and with dry skin. Take your pick.

The coast of Vancouver Island looking across at Washington state.
Sandy beaches are ok, but waves breaking on a rocky coast are immensely peaceful.
There was a campground at Otter Point out past Sooke that was magnificent. They sold it off as a RV condominium.

Mountain town. Girls in bikinis are nice, but sweaterbunnies are, too, and they're way better than a fire to keep you warm on a cold mountain night.

Late July amd August when it get hotter than hell, I spend 2 weeks in Ouray and Silverton for some overlanding.

Great way to escape the Gulf Coast heat.
