If you feel like taking the trip to Middendorf's, it is the GOAT imo. Mike Anderson's is also very solid and right by LSU.

Parrain's
I really like their fried Catfish/Shrimp combo platter. It always comes out fresh and hot, is well battered and seasoned, and the hushpuppies, spicy dirty rice and cole slaw ( with peanuts ) are money as well. The fries are pretty typical but good.

Parrains
Crawford's on Staring
I personally find Tony's to be way too salty/overseasoned

Considering they own a catfish farm and have them delivered live through a chute at the door that drops them straight into the live water tank inside the store, filet in front of you and drop in grease I’d venture to guess your statement is not accurate.
Parrains and City Cafe On George O Neal have great catfish.

Crawford's on Staring at Essen would be a solid choice.

Porch Light on Old Perkins is one of my new favorites. A little farther out is Galvez Seafood and Philay's, both very good as well.

What was it? It's hard for me to believe Tony's is selling something else as fried catfish due to what a poster above said.
To op: there is a shell station on Plank and 64 in Zachary. Best damn fried catfish I've ever had. Have to like cornmeal breading.

Crawfords on Staring or Elsie's Plate and Pie.
Elsie's fried seafood(and chicken fingers)is often overlooked but its really good.

Might be the worst fried fish i've ever had. Don't think it actually has fish in it, it's just fried batter, that isn't even seasoned well.
Tasted like something you'd find in a hospital cafeteria.
The Rouses on Airline actually has really good fried catfish.

If we're throwing grocery stores in the ring. Matherne's also has very good fried catfish. There's one downtown and one on campus.
