LSU thought they had him in the bag and made actually the bigger offer ($). Freeman visited ND first then LSU.

LSU made the higher offer - meanwhile freeman's agent went back to ND and they slightly went up and that's all she wrote. It was also reported the wife loved South Bend vs BR - so that other thread talking about BR compared to other cities their is your anecdotal evidence.

I think Vitello stays at Tenn

But I think LSU definitely gets a good quality coach.

But to those that think Woodward is a magician and gets everything he wants how soon y'all forget the Freeman saga that literally happened a few months ago.

Vitello will get a raise and stay at Tenn.

LSU is probably going to hire someone not named Vitello but these situations aren’t remotely the same since the AD is the primary point person on one and not the other.

If everyone thought Woodward can handpick his coaches, we'd be convinced Corbin was coming here. Your argument is a strawman

Did Scott get played or did Freeman stay in the midwest where he is from and coached all his life?

Just because you don’t get a guy doesn’t mean you got played. Getting played was Miles acting like he was going to Arkansas or Mainieri going to Texas. Not to mention there are other factors at play than just money.

Go back and read all of the threads at that time. LSU thought he was in the bag and then go look at the responses from some of the LSU best writers and insiders after Freeman chose ND they were just as shocked.

Stupid, over-used term.

Human beings still have free-will and even the best athletic director can't force someone against their will.

He made a decision based off life, not money. That happens. Woodward made him think about it and consider it strongly.

Sometimes coaches just want something different than money.

Marcus Freeman interviewed to be the head coach?
I must have missed that part which would have meant Woodward was the point person in that situation and your thread now makes sense.

The primary issue is people here are heavily biased and will interpret this issue how they want to, not how it is. Had this been another AD or coach, the rant would have melted down. People simply see things the way they want to, because we lack the information to understand what actually happened.

This is a rumor site now more than anything

From what I heard about Freeman he preferred LSU but it was a no from the wife. He’s a big family guy.

Didn’t he tell his team he was going to LSU? Then changed his mind.

Just stop typing my friend, your posting privileges are suspended

If you think an AD is running around hiring all the assistants to every sport that LSU offers, then Woodward might as well fire Ogre and pocket that money for use in the athletic dept.
