I still think Woodward makes Corbin tell him no before he moves on to anyone else.

If this is Woodward’s strategy then Vitello isn’t even an option for him. TV is going to sign an extension with TN within the next 24-48 hours.

He waits on Corbin, which could potentially extend in to next week, he’ll have to circle back to most likely Godwin or expand to candidates that haven’t been mentioned.

This example hasn’t meant anything for a long time.

Exactly. Vitello is not going to wait on a decision that may last another week.

According to sources #Tennessee is prepared to make Tony Vitello the highest paid college baseball coach in the country.

This from Jayson Swain. Former Vol football player and Knoxville radio host. TV gonna need to send Paul and Woodward a nice bottle of wine.

Sexton's going to drive his price to 4 million and when the dust settles the winning AD is going to go

I honestly believe that if Vitello isn’t signed by mid-next week, Woody is going to make a run at McDonnel.

That being said, I also can’t see Tennessee ponying up on the claim to make him the highest paid coach in College Baseball. And even if they did, it’s an idiotic move for them as an athletic department.

That means absolutely nothing. I still believe he is a serious candidate.

At this point, i honestly believe the deal is signed and done with Corbin. They are just waiting till his season is over. Woodward is not the kind of AD who will let other coaches go by while waiting on someone to tell him no. They went up on SUnday on Corbins day off and got it finalized. . If it was Johnson it would have been announced.

My hope is that he doesn't wait on Corbin to give him a no while Vitello signs an extension because he doesn't have time to wait with recruiting and the transfer portal coming up.

This thing is done and I bet about four people know it. Woodward, Corbin, Corbin’s agent, and Vandy’s AD.

I just don’t take that comment from PM too seriously. That conversation could have happened 3 weeks ago. I still think we’re trying to make Corbin tell us no. I’ve said all along I think Vitello wants to stay at Tennessee.

Mainieri may have just been blabbering but the interview was definitely last week based on other things they discussed (super regional pitching decisions, Virginia-Tennessee matchup).

I would hope by now, if we are waiting this long for corbin, we already have an idea of his answer one way or another

Or maybe Paul's comments were to help things stay quiet on that front.

We’re good dude. Think logically about this. That question would make sense with Alleva as AD. Woodward is competent and has considered this I’d bet.

Yeah if you’re waiting this long for someone still playing then a lot of the general details have already been agreed on. The only thing that’s left is the face to face meeting to finalize everything the third party has discussed.

That doesn’t mean it can’t still fall apart, but there’s no way Woodward is still just waiting to talk at this point.

PM doesnt strike me as the type of person to throw calculated lies out there. He is usually very straightforward with the media. Sometimes to a fault
