I would hope by now, if we are waiting this long for corbin, we already have an idea of his answer one way or another

Or at least feel confident enough your "second choice" will say yes to put him on the backburner.

O'Sullivan was the #1 target from the beginning. That fell through at a level above Woodward's head. However, I was told over a month ago that Corbin had quietly reached out. Most likely it was just to use the LSU opening as negotiating leverage against Vanderbilt. But there are now only 6 HC's left coaching and LSU still hasn't hired a coach. Every day they don't name one it becomes more and more logical they are targeting someone who is still playing in the CWS.

My educated guess has long been that Woodward is trying to replicate a Jimbo to A&M hire. Or to a lesser extent, Mulkey to LSU. That is, target with a HUGE contract a championship winning HC at what appears to be a good job in a power conf, but one that may, for whatever reason, not be completely happy at his current job.

I still think the odds of getting Corbin are very, very low. But LSU HAS to know many HCs will use them for leverage and the fact that they still MAY be waiting for Cobin COULD suggest there is more real interest there than one might think. That said, I'm still betting Corbin doesn't work out and LSU falls back to Godwin.

This thing is done and I bet about four people know it. Woodward, Corbin, Corbin’s agent, and Vandy’s AD.

15-20 years ago that might have been the case. But in today's climate where information is exchanged rapidly and immediately it is IMPOSSIBLE to keep such things a secret. Even if we assume that is true for the sake of argument, the money to pay him would have to come from outside boosters. Boosters who LOVE to flaunt their influence and ego. If the deal was done, at least one booster would have bragged to somebody....who then told somebody else....who then told somebody else.....etc. People LOVE to be the first release "breaking news." Particularly now more than ever.

That would be a seismic shift in the small world of CBB and the "small town" of BR. There is ZERO chance it could be kept a secret.

It is everyone’s in that groups interests to keep it quiet. Even the Vandy AD, as they have an obligation to put the players in their team in the best position to succeed. The Vandy AD would not want to distract them.

Woodward knows the money will be there. He doesn’t need to have their sign off. He probably has commitments from people through the trust he has built that they will provide the funds. “Trust me, I will get someone that will make you happy.”

O'Connor has already told Mainieri that he has no interest of leaving Virginia.

Right because coaches have NEVER lied in these exact situations….ever.

O’Connor was never getting an offer

O'Connor is close to a State pension on top of his contracted salary, aside from Charlottesville being God's Country. He isn't leaving

No one has a clue what is going on behind the scenes except Woodward and the agents he is talking to. We need to be patient.
