I started losing my hair YEARS ago but remember not really worrying about it because I felt there would be a cure within about five years.

Well, here we are over 20 years later and no cure. And no really ‘significant’ advancements have taken place. Other than transplants there is no effective remedy.

This is stunning. I realize cancer is very difficult to cure broadly because there are so many different kinds of cancer but baldness isn’t that complicated and you’d think it shouldn’t be that difficult in today’s medical environment that a cure hasn’t been found.

I'm bald from cancer, and it looks like it drastically altered my hairline as it's growing back a completely different color. YAY

I guess about 15 years ago I started looking at cures for baldness. It was always "five years away!".

In other news, the Chinese just melded a male and female rat together and managed to get the male to have a uterus and give birth to baby rats

Dr. Tsuji of Japan seems to have figured it out but the cost will astronomical initially. There are guys out there doing amazing things. Dr Umar out in La is getting incredible results using nape and beard follicles. FUE has increased donor hair availability by 400% in some cases.

Bottom line, there has never been a better time to be bald with current options and future technologies in the works.

It’s genetic, it has to do with aging and that’s pretty hard to figure out, and it’s not exactly harmful or even detrimental to your health. That’s why there hasn’t been a cure discovered.

Sucks, we don't have full proof ways of restoring hair.

But slap some lips and tits on a pig and she's good to go.

There’s an old Cajun cure for baldness that involves rubbing dog crap on the head to promote hair growth. Benefits outweighed by smelling like dog crap though.

Honestly I'm more surprised that no one has figured out how to regrow teeth vs regrowing hair.

There's gotta be a way to force your body to regrow teeth ala how you grow your adult teeth after your baby teeth fall out.

I'm in my early 50's now. I started "thinning" in my early 20's. Like you, I didn't worry about it.

At the time, I said that the person who invents a cure for baldness will be a multibillionaire. Perhaps, the richest man in the world. Most of the people I knew back then who were going bald would have gone out and gotten second and third jobs to pay for any medication that cured baldness with little or no side effects.

Because of the monetary incentive I thought FOR SURE that some enterprising chemist or M.D. would develop a cure. Thirty years later and there is still no cure.

As I mentioned, I started to thin in my early 20's. My dad was pretty much bald at the time. One of my grandfathers had gone bald and the other had a deep widow's peak and very thin hair overall. Therefore, I didn't think I had a chance.

The good news is that my hair stopped thinning in my mid-20's. I pretty much have the same hairline I had at 25. It's not the THICK mane of hair I had in my teens, but no one would ever think I ever really worried about going bald.

Having said that, I would pay GOOD MONEY to get that thick head of hair that I had in my teens back. The first thing I think of when I see old high school or college pictures is -- GOD I WISH I STILL HAD THAT THICK HEAD OF HAIR!
