Porzingis be a good fit?

Seems like Dallas fit isn’t really working but on the surface a big who can shoot opening the lane for point Zion would be somewhat advantageous to us.
I know he is on an expensive multi year deal but it seems like this could potentially allow Z to move to the SF and BI to the SG especially if we feel Jaxson is progressing.
Ball
BI
Z
Hayes
Porzingis
Would be a crazy long team.
Or with Hayes coming off the bench and inserting NAW.
I’m probably missing something so please enlighten me.

He's the kind of risk you take as a small market team, but not sure if he'd like it here though. I think part of the reason he's failing in Dallas is his attitude. He seems like the type of guy that only wants to be in a big market (NYC, LA, Miami).

He's soft and he's injured a lot.
But if we're willing to pay some tax, then I'll say exactly the same thing I said about Kemba -- overpaying good players is a way to win. And Prozingis is a good player. If Gayle has given the green light for us to pay some tax, then yeah, let's do it.

I just think the difference here is a shooting big to open the lane seems to be a better fit with Zion. I agree a scorer in Kemba would be good fit as well but all things being equal I would think the reward would be higher with Kristaps with similar risks.
I also get confused what a big market is. I always assumed Houston/Dallas were “big” markets.

The reason he's not what Dallas needs him to be is he's too fragile to play center. Look at the playoffs, he was mostly playing stretch 4 and they were starting Boban. If we're going to go that route I'd go for Kevin Love, he's only got 2 years left instead of 3.

I'm not saying the Pels don't want more shooting, but Zion is a bigger threat than your typical stretch big. You'd need a 40% volume 3 point shooter like Bertans if you want any hope of unclogging the lane.

That praying mantis looking dude is always hurt and is in love with just hanging out at the 3 point line. Not a fan.

Well, he very much wanted out of NYC, so I don't know about that.

He gives you all the soft injuries that AD gives you without the upside.

If he was healthier and played defense like he played in New York, I would be down. But he’s not, and he hasn’t been.

Only way I'm trading for Porzingas is if they also give up 2 of their young guys.
Porzingas, Green and Brunson for Adams, Bledsoe (sent to 3rd team) and S&T of Hart.
Like Kemba, it's a risk worth taking, but his additional year under contract makes it a bigger risk, as his deal will run into Zion's new deal.

Nope, would be bad for the culture

That guy seems to be a cancer everywhere he goes. It also says something that the guy is 7’3” and is still not considered a full time center. He hates contact and loves sitting at the 3 line. I think in his own head he’s a hall of fame player but to everyone else it’s just a guy with insane natural talent that is unrealized.

I agree. I really don't want Porzingis.
Even if we are just giving trash to get him.

Whatever you think KP was at his peak, reduce that to maybe 60% and that’s what he is now.
I want no part of that.

Our culture of nice, quiet guys “that “care” about winning” has been so good to us…
Not saying it’s a reason to trade for someone, but we shouldn’t use that frame of thought to not trade for someone bc our current collection of personalities and culture is ultimately a soft group that doesn’t properly hate to lose.

Porzingis is a malcontent a-hole that is reportedly not the best teammate.

Yeah porz might be more trouble than he’s worth. I just don’t like the line of thinking in general that we have some magical team culture that should be protected at all costs. For the right kind of malcontents I’d blow it up in a second lol.

Maybe Luka wants out. Send them everything we got for AD and see if they bite.
