Not quite sure how to handle this. I need to update my resume. My official title is just my job. But my actual position is as a senior.

So for example, I joined as a junior dishwasher and I got promoted now I’m a senior dishwasher but per my company records, I’m just a dishwasher. Even though when I’m introduced to clients, I am introduced as a senior dishwasher.

Would it be wrong to put senior dishwasher on my resume?

You can clarify with a cover letter or the description below the title.

If they ask say it's keyword optimization.

No. Not if that’s your actual job and certainly not if that’s how you are held out to the public/clients.

why?
If it’s because you are job hunting then put whatever you want on there.
your job is to get the interview

honestly “senior” doesn’t really mean anything to me.
you’re either talented and smart or you aren’t. Your resume needs to reflect your qualifications not your place in someone else’s pecking order

Man I know “seniors” with 3 years of experience. Job titles don’t mean shite these days

I mean I wouldn't give a shite. I'm going to care more about the details and responsibilities below the title than the title.

As someone that goes through resumes often, being a "senior" whatever isn't offputting at all. Its the people who put "Sanitation Engineer" when they were in charge of dumping the trash at Popeye's in their last role that get tossed without a 2nd look.

I have no contribution to this discussion, I am just checking in to let y'all know that I read the subject as Resume job titties.

I put Senior Analyst for one of my jobs, when in reality my job title was Analyst IV, which was the highest level analyst

Probably only matters if/when they check references.

Personally, I’d keep it to my actual job title.
