The undergrad ed program is really easy. Shockingly easy.
With a little perseverance anyone can do it.
The hard part is when you start teaching and can't show up hungover or worse every day

I’m over-qualified. Sorry
There are professional fields you could apply for. You could teach marketing, polymer chemistry, welding, anything you can think of.
Think about it. 180 days of work and you could be at the beach from Memorial Day to the end of summer. I don't know why we aren't all teachers?

Is there a profession better at patting themselves on the back than teachers?
"journalists".
If it rained, they'd probably drown.

I'm convinced that if the state made the base teacher salary set at $100k/year with all of their pension, benefits, etc they'd STILL whine that it isn't enough because of all their expenses as if no other profession in this world has to supply their own tools and equipment.
Teachers unions are a huge part of the problem. In fact, my first Ed class was required to be an introduction to the various unions. Its pathetic.
They continually push for better pay and conditions regardless of what the current pay and conditions are, as that is what Unions do. I got no problem with it except the rank and file believe their BS
Add in that most teachers are women, and you get a lot of added drama. An incredible amount of drama.

I just can't imagine being so far up your own arse to put a sign in your yard that says "A Hero Lives Here." And these are pretty much all teachers and nurses.
ill never forget when a dude on here said he was a hospital admin and just automatically received a "Healthcare Hero" sign in the mail bc he works at the hospital. He made his kids call him healthcare hero and shite, so funny

But those 180 days!!!! The horror!! I wasn’t born with that special trait that allows people to teach

I have A family full of teachers
So I’ll say yes.
Everyone’s job sucks.
Outside front line military troops, I don’t care that you’re job is hard.

So yes, a mechanical engineer who is now a manager at his firm, has an "easier" job in terms of what he deals with from a patience level etc. But the raw knowledge it takes it does to get to his position is 100000x that of a teacher
Yeah, a couple years ago when I was really trying to figure out where I wanted to go I thought about teaching, mainly due to the low barrier of entry. But once you get there, if you want to be a good teacher and really be impactful, it can't be easy. It may be easy to get the job and coast, but I'd imagine going above and beyond as a teacher and excelling may be on of the hardest jobs, especially in a state like Louisiana where education is in the toilet and resources are limited.
I would think eventually you get into a cycle where teachers in under performing districts who are worth a damn get scooped up by charter schools or private schools that can offer them real dollars. And as it goes, the kids who can afford to go to those schools get the best educations.
I grew up in Cenla and went to one of the most ghetto schools in the area. I can not imagine trying to be a teacher at that school. I'd last half a week before I decided I was gonna coast because none of the parents gave a shite about their kids education.

Most people are more ambitious.
Men prefer performance driven professions.

I've never had a job where I've had to supply my own tools, supplies, or equipment, unless we're counting using my car which I get mileage reimbursement for. I sometimes have to use my personal cell phone, but it is minimal.

Really? Because most of the men I know prefer professions where they can be handed a tool, shown what to do, and then clock out and get hammered on the weekends while praising themselves about how they work hard.
Not saying there is anything wrong with that if that's what they want, but I know some extremely strong driven women and some men who display the exact opposite characteristics while pretending they run the show.

If your average teacher makes 45k a year with some experience, they really would make roughly 65k if they actually worked like the rest of us
Average here is about 65k, and you can make another 10-15k working summers if you choose in the tourism or fishing industry.
One thing teachers do not have is admin support. I've seen it many times. Unruly kids cannot be "Kicked out" because the education system is geared toward counting butts in seats, not educating them.
Plus, mainstreaming fricking sucks and is another SJW attempt to placate non learners. Its hard to teach AP and special ed in the same class.
The job is frustrating as hell, but not difficult.
