Best Lord of the Rings movie and why

For me it is Fellowship of the ring.
Gandalf the grey is a better character than white. The cohesive storyline is also better than the other 2 movies. Even without a major battle like the other films, I still get excitement. It’s a perfect movie in my opinion.

I haven’t watched them in years but I remember Two Towers being my favorite.

I agree.
ROTK has its moments, but Fellowship offers up the closest TOLKIEN version on screen of the 3. ( Don't @ me about The Hobbit )

Fellowship as well but it’s also my favorite book, especially the first half.

As a kid I disliked fellowship because it was the “boring” movie. But as an adult it’s my favorite.

The hobbit films are a disgrace. I have forgotten about them.

Return of the King for me. Used to be Two Towers, watched ROTK recently and the nostalgia of some of the speeches before the battle scenes really hit me

I liked them all, but haven't watched them in a while. I think all of them have 20 minutes that could have been cut out to make them better. Just a bit long to me each

RotK because it has an overload of awesome moments
Ride of the Rohirrim
I am no Man
But I can carry you!
I could do that
You bow to no one
And tons more...but then again all three movies are packed full of awesome moments.

Tom Bombadil being left out is a travesty.

Never really cared for him, but do think the events around him are important (Old Forest, Barrow Downs)

The Two Towers for me. Simply because it has one of the greatest battle scenes in history in Helms Deep

I didn’t when I read the book as a teenager. Now that I’m reading it with my oldest I actually really enjoyed the chapters around TB this go round.

Best scene in the trilogy.

Two Towers. ROTK had that fake arse CGI army of the dead. Two Towers starts w/ Gandalf vs. Balrog and then Ents vs. Saruman and then the Battle of Helms Deep.

Fellowship is my favorite.
It has the most lore and locations in Middle-Earth, it’s the most adventurous of the three, most of the time the main characters are together rather than spread out all over the place.
The big battles in the other movies are great, but for me, nothing tops the fellowship fighting on their own at Amon Hen.
